Morning CholeraJoe. Women have come a long way in the roles they fill in the military since I was in.

Sam,
Your post presumes that all of us agree that women have a role in the military. I for one do not agree with this premise.
All this cheerleading about "how far women have come" is in my view the usual self justification of the feminists who would have us subordinate the security of our nation to their single most important issue of women using the military as a vehicle to advance their own selfish agenda.
From my perspective as an infantry officer, the presence of women in uniform emasculates the service and draws precious resources that could better be used elsewhere.
Please understand that I am not denigrating the service of individuals, I just think that our country is mistakenly imposing women on the military, to the detriment of combat effectiveness.

I make no such presumption oldcorps, the post was put up to honor the women who have served and to allow for discussion. Captain Wilson apparently believes differently from you and I.
My statement about women coming a long way since I was in was in reference to women being either nurses or clerks and not much else back then. They have filled a lot of other roles since those days.
I believe that any woman who is qaulified to do the job, and that means meeting the same standards as a man who would fill that role, should be able to get that job.
My one exception being the Combat Arms, although I have met some women that could kick my butt and I would trust in a foxhole with me, I guess I'm just old fashioned and chauvenistic enough to believe they do not belong in the Combat Arms as a matter of policy.
Thanks for expressing your opinion, that's what the Foxhole is here for.

AntiJen, thanks for your service to our country. There is no doubt in my mind that you served with just as much pride as any man ever did.

No...It's the ballplayer who shows up late, insults the fans, does steroids, grandstands, and rakes in the BIG $$$.Being an SF Giants fan, Barry Bonds comes to mind.
To: The Real Deal
Thank you Real!! I did serve with pride in the Air Force, and I believe women have a role in the military - although not in every career field.

Lady X,your Service is much respected and I hope for your quick healing from your auto accident so when you read this it says "Welcome Home!".
"Thor's Legions" was about military weather 1937-1987. It has in the index about 10 pages on women. I have no scanner and type poorly. But I hope to reread some and post today. In 1960 my first supervisor as a 2Lt(Lt Fuzz) was a woman Captain. All along the way I worked with woman weather Officers, including VietNam. There was the Air Force's oldest and most senior Warrant Officer. As a space engineer I worked with many woman Officers and even supervised one. These were all outstanding Officers.

Well SAMWolf, it's been along time since I heard "Sink the Bismark". Thanks for posting it. Great picture to boot!
