Speaking of cooking late at night... I made Apple Crisp tonight. I don't remember who gave me the recipe, but I think she left out a step, because my "crisp" -- wasn't! The topping part was kinda soggy, but it was still good! My daughter saw me slicing apples and was amazed that I was cooking "from scratch"! hahahaha

Excellent historical overview.
My father's mother was a Custer and I have not researched her claim to have been related to George Armstrong.
Regarding stuffing Comanche, Roy Rogers stuffed Trigger. Rogers' costar for his first eight films was Penny Edwards who was our next-door neighbor here until her death in 1998.
We had occasion to be at the home of a Lakota sculptor of some renown in 1989 to observe him rolling on the ground yelling at his wife for having taken his wine bottle.
The radio station has covered the problem of pueblos not sharing DWI records with the state DMV with resultant carnage. The second occurance (DUI deja vu all over again) of a double-legal Native American piloting a pickup wrongway on an Interstate to kill four whites in a head-on.
A good friend now gone described himself as a coyote, Spanish father, Indian mother, said it was a cross to bear. His own brother returned from jail to throw him out in the snow to freeze to death.
Now the Army restores peace among native populations, winning the hearts and minds of al Qaeda, pursuing same to Thailand.

No Way! I gave you that recipe and I didn't leave anything out! Did you use butter or margarine?

My husband gets an annual itchathon in the winter months since he was in Vietnam. It's like a nasty little rash on the back of his arms that drives him nuts. Sometimes it is in other places too. Did you try benedryl? Or Vaseline? I swear! Diver Dave was right about Vaseline making an itch feel better!

A tent? From a safety pin, pencil, razor blade, wire and a TP roll? Try again.

LOL! Hey, my aunt gave me the recipe I use for Krumkaka (don't ask!) and I love it. Mine always turn out perfect and crispy, but hers are always soggy! She complained about it all the time but refused to use real butter. (She is deceased now). You want crisp? Use butter! :)

So good to see you here again Phil. Wouldn't it be interesting if you are related to George Armstrong Custer. When you research it, let us know the result.
You always share such interesting things. Thanks for your nightly post. We appreciate it!
