We are having a Christmas party for our BSA troop at the Veterans home that is connected to the VA hospital. The boys and family members will be singing Christmas carols, and sharing a tri tip dinner with some of them. They will be handing out Christmas cards to the ones that are bed ridden.
This could become a tradition for some Boy Scout, Girl Scout, homeschool, AWANA, or youth groups. We are providing the meal for our group and 25 of the veterans. The meal cost can be divided by the families, or have the group buy the main dish and make the other stuff potluck.
Last year we did Christmas carols and cookies, they loved it. The veterans sang right along with the boys. After the singing was over the vets want to spend time with the boys asking about scouting and the different badges that the boys had earned.

That is wonderful! I bet the vets were so happy to spend time with the kids. What a fantastic thing to teach the kids about giving. I hope they keep the tradition up. :)
