Dad was part of the "Big Red One" infantry. He was in England, Scotland, North Africa (where he contracted malaria). Once he told me all about where he went from beginning to end. He's 84 now and I'm going to have to ask him to repeat it and write it all down.
Dad's a good Republican and all the stuff he warned me about when I was in my late teen's and 20's about Communists and Socialists wanting to take over this country, I've finally understood what he meant.
If he was with the !st Infantry in North Africa he was with them from the beginning of their combat operations in WWII.
I thank him for his service, the 1st was one of the best Infantry Divisons in the ETO.
