Took a quick break...
Saw an interesting thing down here last month. Many reservists and separated officers are being recalled to active duty. One such felt that a terrible mistake had been made. He had been medically separated, he was about 50 pounds overweight and walked with a cane due to very bad knee problems. He made his case to the NCO doing the in-processing here, and was told to "sit down and quit complaining. There's no mistake. You can still operate a desk."
The Army is recalling soldiers who can free up younger troops to deploy.

Ahhh...Gulf Coast....I grew up (well, for 2 years, anyway!) in Biloxi. Memories include a hurricane, fishing for flounder, riding an LST to Deer Island, and getting yanked off the tracks just before the 5:15 came thunderin' through!!!

You'd have to be blind not to see it...and working where I do, we're gonna end up feelin' it, too.
You're right, we need to have the kind of military leadership that Schwarzkopf exhibited in GWI, where the elder Bush let him run the campaign the way he saw fit. The trouble then was that we, the good guys, followed the UN rules and stopped short of a good military solution to the problem!
