What is the life of one soldier worth?: Why not give our troops 30 days before they return home an opportunity to decompress in a setting that is equipped with mental health professionals, programs designed to return soldiers to civilian life
An article by Gregg Zoroya, USA TODAY highlights an issue our country is facing that needs attention and, as possible, correction. Too many people in our military are victims of suicide.
A small portion of what Mr. Zoroya wrote:
The number of suicides among troops was 145 in 2001 and began a steady increase until more than doubling to 321 in 2012, the worst year in recent history for service members killing themselves.
When I would come off a mission I would go so far into the desert, away from people and sit for days.
not sure if it helped
Truedat, but for me, I needed the night sky and solitude.
comraderie is great till its in my face
we are all different but I been sniffing yalls crap for 118 days and I need to be alone for a while before I sniff the wifes butt.
I understand decompress
Here is the way it is.. when you head off to a mission the first 2 weeks is when the fights break out.
Like a kid without his binky
Folks go nuts over the pussy trouble and communication is cut of and all they have to talk to is you.
We bust each others balls and try to get the mind on the mission during the transit.
Guys will be like forget her, I tagged that.. let’s watch the tape..
Then the mission sets in and its harmony of purpose.
Tedious scary and exhausting, but you demonstrate you have each others back and all is well.
Then 2 weeks before hitting home all the some shit flares up and here come the fist fights LOL
I want my binky!
Maybe Dr Frasier Crane can tell us why this is NORMAL
Any R n R I got I created.
Whats a liberty port?
I swear to God I just drove to the desert for 2,3 days and stared at the sky.
Then it was home to the Missus.
I’m still kinda anti social and the marriage is long over.
Hep me Dr Pheel! LOL
Amen.
