The sad reality, beyond the glamorization of stardom, drug use, Hollywood and trying to live vicariously through the lives of famous(and minimally talented) people, most Americans simply have no freaking clue as to what “Duty, Honor Country’’ means and the fortitude , patriotism, courage and love for America in our young people and the willingness to die for her means. As far as I’m concerned a fat f**king RINO slob like the governor of my state, Chris Christie isn’t fit enough to urinated on by the likes of this mans grandson.
Because in our world turned upside-down, “heroic” has been redefined.

Which brings me to the brave soldier who laid down his life for his country and countrymen. His worth is seen immensely by his family. By his community, both at home and in the armed forces. Seen also by patriots at large. However, for the vast majority of people, he was 'just another soldier felled in battle.' Most people do not see the supreme sacrifice made, and they don't care. Yet the same people care about Whitney, or Lady Gaga, or the latest from American Idol. It is just an extrapolation of the worth given to an actor compared to that given to a teacher or cop or fireman ...or soldier/sailor/corpsman.
People subscribe little value to very important things that seem to be in abundance, and a lot of value to things of lesser merit when they seem to be scarce. Perception. Which is why Lady Gaga can make more than any doctor - or a whole hospital of them for that matter.
The answer is this - not enough value was placed on the brave man's sacrifice compared to the value placed on a singer. People see soldiers as expendable, in much the same way most people see their days as expendable rather than the priceless gifts from God that they are.
I think the man was not expendable, and his worth can be measured by the heartbeats of those alive be because he fought for them. Unfortunately I am in the minority, and chances are as a foreigner I value that soldier more than most Americans.
They're gonna' milk this drug addict's death for all it's worth. To see the carrying on yesterday at the funeral for this screechy-screaming needle pincushion was disgusting. And, just for laughs, it happened during Black Phony History month, so that'll give it a few more pages.
I'm sure they canonized this junkie into sainthood so she'll have schools named after her: Saint Whitney. The only thing I remember about her is how she totally and completely destroyed one of the nicest love songs sung by Dolly Parton. She turned it into a scream-amd-hold-a-note fest. And people talk about that song destruction like it was a monumental thing.
I hate to see anyone die, but too bad she was so stinking selfish to do this and not give a fig about her daughter. How totally selfish.
During WWII,on any given day, there could be hundreds or thousands of our fighting men killed, and news reports of such occurrences might come days or weeks after the fact, in some instances not until the war was over. About two thousand were lost in an amphibious landing practice exercise in prep. for Normandy landings, not made publicly know until much later, and surely there were other like tragic mass losses, accidentally in training and also in mortal combat. On the home front people sucked it up and kept on working. Having experienced those times as a home front teen-ager (enlisted in Navy late in war, Dec. ‘44), I cannot comprehend half-masting Old Glory for each and every combat zone KIA, or how we as a people came to expect it.

Our society values fame/celebrity (even that of a drug addict) over honor/duty
Because a disturbingly large portion of our nation has a very screwed up view of the world.
But a good sized portion does not. If there were not a decent remnant, no one would be making anything of this incident. The fact that it is a controversy shows that this nation is still alive.

This whole thing about allowing governors of states to lower the American flag to half mast needs to stop. The American flag is the NATIONAL emblem. It should only be lowered when the NATION morns, like the death of a loved president.
If a state governor thinks his state is in mourning, then lower the state flag to half mast. This whole thing in Wisconsin of having the governor lowering the American flag to half mast when a Wisconsin soldier dies was begun under a Democrat gov in an effort to get the citizens riled up against Bush.
In America, every day there are people from the ‘greatest generation’ who fought World War II who are dying. Maybe we should just leave the American flag at half mast for them, too. That makes more sense to me, because every day, when I look at the GOP or Obama and how America is being run into the ground, I go into mourning.
Agenda
1. Expulsion from nation by force of all non-Bible-based religions (no exceptions, no compromise on this issue). Allow individuals involved to sell assets (within 90 days) and then leave.
2. Reestablish strict discipline and performance standards in all public schools. Students will perform to certain standards no matter what. Special needs students will have special needs goals to attain. Any school administrators or teachers who disagree will no longer be employed. Parents disagreeing will be severely punished and then students who refuse to follow guidelines and standards will also be severely punished. Those meeting standards and especially those exceeding standards will be rewarded to the degree that they perform.
3. Any business people or politicians/government officials who set an example of dishonesty/fraud/etc. will be tried and executed.
4. Strict immigration control and massive deportations of all illegal aliens who will be allowed to sell assets prior to departure(90 days) will begin immediately. All remaining adult citizens will be required to pledge allegiance to country and sign contract to that effect. This country is not "Little Mexico", "Little India", China Town, etc. -- It is the United States of America.
5. One language will be instituted as the language of commerce, education, life and living - English (and I'm bilingual). This will draw the nation together on that plane.
6. All drug dealers will be tried, and with proof of having been involved in drug trafficking, summarily executed, even those now in prison. All drug users will have a one year period to completely solve their addiction issues or face trial and execution. Anyone bringing drugs into this country no matter what amount will be tried and executed.
7. Anyone in the world who attacks and/or kills Americans without cause will be shown to be an example of what you do not ever want to do again.
8. Lawyers -- Extensive tort reform will become the established operating procedure. One can only go to court to request actual damages for wrongs. No more multi-million awards. No more lawyers establishing procedure for society instead of real core values establishing procedure. Lawyers will take care of business necessary, not just to excessively enrich themselves.
This is just the beginning. Now, to those who want to get into an argument, "Talk to the hand." If you are not ready for massive change back to our core values, then quit complaining about what's happening. Realistically, you can not have change in one small facet of life and not expect multiple facets to face massive change as well. The problem in the nation are the core values, not any one single issue.
