Dear snippy_about_it,How are things?Now you've "profiled"the only survivor of"Torpedo 8/USS Hornet".Lt. Gay went on to a long career flying for TWA if I'm not mistaken.The action where he emerged as the only survivor of his squadron was Midway(June,1942).Some historians refer to it as"The Miracle of Midway".So many ifs;What if Spruance hadn't been needed to replace Halsey(he was suffering from an outbreak of shingles).What if the Japanese hadn't been in the process of changing the armament on their planes at just the Wrong time???
