Dear snippy_about_it,While I was visiting St.Mere Eglise in Dec.2000,I had the priviledge of meeting a man named Howard Manoian. He was a member of Company A,505th PIR,82nd Airborne Division and jumped in there(St.Mere Eglise)on June 5th,1944.Howard is quite a celebrity in those parts. He has lived nearby for nearly 20-years.I am returning to Normandy this December and I hope to find him at the little brasserie(adjacent to the church where John Steele's parachute became snagged)cursing in both French and English! He is rather a curmudgeonly fellow and a HERO among the locals!!

That's wonderful. Give him a cheer for us!
