This was a long read but worth the time.

Mind you I'm no expert, just commenting on what I am learning here at the Foxhole. :)

Hindsight being 20/20 IMO, the writer states “Thus, despite some isolated successes, special operations made only a limited contribution to the hard-earned success of Allied arms in the Mediterranean.“

Limited perhaps but a very important contribution and the loss of life was significant, had some of these night maneuvers not taken place or these infiltrations where we lost most of our men not occurred there may have been a huge difference that we just cannot see and therefore again IMO these men contributed much.

Of course we learned a lot and our special forces today are seen as an important part of our military, thank goodness. I know that the special forces of all our services work and train together so we have come a long way!

Thanks SAM this was very interesting and Darby’s turn down of the promotion was great to learn about. No wonder they loved him so.

If Louisiana elects the current Republican candidate for governor (India American), this expression could become commonplace.

BTW, in continued celebration of Gourmet Coffee Week, I made of mix this AM of Seattle's Best, Don Friscos and Cafe Llana . . . let's just say I won't have to wear a chest wig. ;^)
