Saw a show once where they went searching for city yotes- they went near a park, and r3corded the howls and yips from a good number of coyotes living right on edge of city. I suppose the garbage situation, plus the abundance of rats draws them in.
I worked on small bison ranch, and when. They had calves, the coyotes would show up and try to kill the claves- efen during daylight hours- but mostly at night- they never did manage to get any- shot one, another died of mange near the corral, likely trying to “get an easy meal” but finding out bison aren’t pushover lol
Foxes love cats I’m told. Might been a fox, or another cat (male cats will fight for territory and can kill their competitors. Had a family cat, male, got in fight, b got castrated, and crawled up under hood of camper and died we foundit later, and it looked like it had been through hell and back.
I learned that there is a stoat living in the stream behind the house I bought, the month after kitty vanished.
Methinks kitty became stoat food, since I was staying within sight of this house.
Yep,could well be- stoats are viscious little critters.
“I love all animals but I love my animals, more.
“They kill dogs.”
They’re the reason we got five cats — rescued ferals. Coyotes and raccoons were threatening. Couldn’t imagine finding one of the kitties killed. Like you, it works break my heart to kill any animal, but would if necessary.
When we lived in Simi Valley, our land was next to the Reagan Library. The ridge that ran between us was full of coyotes. That noise they make is a bit chilling, but I kind of liked it, too.
When I owned acreage in the Sierra foothills, a group of 3 or 4 stalked my son one evening at dusk. Now I sometimes see them and hear them screaming in the open area adjacent to my office in the city. What I “appreciate@ about them is the effectiveness of a round right between the eye
Yeah. I “appreciate” em with a 50 grain Nosler BallisticTip.
They sometimes wake me up in the middle of the night carrying on right outside my window. I have two acres here in the middle of eastern KY. They are noisy critters!
This is as stupid as David French’s articles on “The Conservative Case for supporting .......[whatever leftist plan is being discussed]”.
Coyotes bring no enjoyment—from near or far. They are destructive evil little beasts and remind me of Democrats.
In the space of a couple weeks, coyotes and their friends from the fox family, killed everyone of my chickens. I despise the little suckers and was delighted each time my hubby killed one.
