The idea, of course, is that Kim might think he could defeat the South, but not the U.S. The trip wire means he can't try A without attacking B.

Yup, i get the strategy, but we can’t stay there forever, and if we can we shouldn’t. I think our presence there is just as likely impeding reform as it is anything else.

Again, as a free market advocate I think S Korea is inherently superior to N Korea, and I think that we’re only delyaing what would be a very positive end for both countries(especially the people of N Korea, ugg)

And so lil kim is flirting with nukes as a way to neutralize us and take S. Korea..

So, if we weren’t there, would he have as much incentive to develop nukes ?

I don’t know, but I think there’s a relationship between events there.
