The article does not mention it, but you need to know the Paul campaign had absolutely nothing to do with the Dec. 16 money bomb.
The credit goes to Trevor Lyman, who set it up with a Tea Party 07 web site asking for pledges, just as he did for the Nov. 6 money bomb. (Watch this PBS clip and you'll learn more about Lyman's political journey.)
The frequent comments about how Ron Paul's campaign staff managed all the volunteer efforts remimd me of the Chinese on their first visit to the US after Nixon's trip. They were impressed by all the technology, the wonderful consumer products in stores, etc., but wanted to know what geniuses the government found to do the central planning. (I'll let you figure out the answer.)

With all due respect to Trevor. He put up a one page web site that took about 1 hour of his time. The credit goes to the thousands and thousands of contributors that made the money bomb a success. I took part in the thread that spawned the tea party site, and so did several other people.
To Trevor’s credit, he points the same thing out whenever asked.

I have a friend whom I debate politics with quite frequently. He and I see this grassroots phenomenon very differently. He thinks other candidates will be able to study Ron Paul's campaign and will use similar ideas (ie hands off) in the future.
I have to remind people, there is nothing stopping ANY other candidate from doing it now, nor has their ever been. The only thing different from 10 years ago is the internet now allows me to find similarly like minded people. Ok, my friend says, but others can find like minded as well. I remind him that's been going on for years. There's FR, and DU, and Moveon, etc. What's the real difference? Why can Dr Paul gain so much momentum, money, and passionate grassroots support?
It's the message! :D
Where else can you get a message of liberty, freedom, integrity, and honesty from a politician? WHERE? What other candidate can cross party lines with such a message?
No. Ron Paul's support won't come close to being matched in the near future. Unfortunately, we won't have another Constitutional candidate to coalesce around for a while.
