Wouldn’t that be an interesting ticket if RP and Hunter joined forces. Both would balance one another greatly. IMO. If anyone else gets the nomination, it would be hard (supported, campagined, etc for both bush’s) for me to support any of the others.

I do not believe that Ron Paul, if Nominated, intends to share the GOP Ticket with Congressman Duncan Hunter. While Hunter has many good qualities (indeed, with Tancredo bowing out, I consider him my #2 choice), Ron Paul is a Small-Government Purist, and he is seeking like-minded Purists.

At this time, the only name whom Ron Paul has publicly mentioned (quite positively, at that) as a possible Running Mate is South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford -- who, during his tenure in Congress, was one of the only Republicans in history to actually acheive (admittedly, only once) a HIGHER National Taxpayer's Union Rating than Ron Paul himself.

While Mark Sanford is a bit more "Religious Right" than Ron Paul on Social Issues, Ron Paul is a "Religious Right" man himself (he just doesn't want to impose his beliefs on others) and I believe that Congressman Paul has enormous respect for Governor Sanford's impeccable record of opposing Government Spending (on one occasion, even better than his own!), in addition to an established record of working with Sanford on Small-Government issues (Paul stands alone; but when the vote went 433-2, odds are that the "2" were Paul and Sanford). I think that his fondness for Sanford as a possible Running Mate really illustrates the core principles of his campaign -- Socially-Libertarian yes; Anti-War yes; but Cutting back Government first and foremost!

While there is a "movement" amongst Ron Paul supporters to name former Superior Court judge Andrew P. Napolitano (FOX News author of Constitutional Chaos: What Happens When the Government Breaks its Own Laws) as our desired "Veep Choice", I think that the best we can hope for there is Attorney General. Ron Paul seems like the sort of guy who projects his punches far in advance, and if he nods his head towards Governor Sanford as his likely Veep Choice, I bet that's what we'll get.

Lord knows he won't listen to the GOP Establishment. No "Bush 1980" this time around!!

That said, I do hope that a President Ron Paul will consider Duncan Hunter for Secretary of Defense. Obviously, Hunter and Paul disagree on Foreign Policy issues, so in a Paul administration the SecDef won't be in charge of making Foreign Policy -- his job will simply be to make sure that the troops get the very best equipment, the very best war-fighting systems, and the very best benefits when they leave the Service... and on those questions, Hunter and Paul (as Veterans themselves) have always agreed, and I hope they'll work together (maybe with Hunter in the Cabinet?).

It's a dream, of course. But a man can dream, can't he?

Will have to look into Stanford. You make a great case for him. I thought of DH as his SOD before. Would be a good fit as well.

Lord knows he won’t listen to the GOP Establishment. No “Bush 1980” this time around!! LOL

Reagan was told he HAD to take GHW on his ticket, though the two fought and disagreed similar to GW and McCain in 02. Least that is what I heard.

I found FR in 04. It was a great sanctuary to come to and find people who supported GWB. I, like many others, were afraid Kerry would get the nod. It was a good positive experience. W has let me down like many others who supported him in 00/04.

I am behind Paul 100%. I read the post and just lol at the guys that contiue to call RP names and consider themselves conservatives, republicans maybe, but not conservatives. Sorry, driving a pickup with a gunrack on the back window may make you a republican(in name only) but not necessarily a conservative. I am also humored by the tough typers, who advocate war and never spent even one day in the boy scouts. They sit at home while others do their fighting for them. But great, because they support the troops. Not by sending donations, care packages, etc, or the very least buying them drinks, lunch, dinner, etc when they run into them at airports, restaurants, etc. Yes, I know there are a lot of Freepers who get out and do the ground work, I do not consider them in the tough type troups (not to be confused with troop(s),). My tough type troups want us to bomb everyone while they sit and watch it on FOX, CNN and the likes drinking their cheap water down beer and cheering it on. But hey, they support the troops, support them in word only.

Let them type tough, they crack me up with their pictures and posts.

You guys along with many others who support RP do a wonderful job and I for one appreciate it. Forgive my rants.

Let the name calling begin/continue.

I do agree on this one point. I do think Duncan Hunter will be considered for SecDef, if he wants it.

I hope, really really hope it won’t be Ron Paul who appoints him.
