I agree that the Lord is not laughing at anyone who is spiritually sincere. But even a genuine Christian gets contaminated with insincerity. So, the Lord can laugh at any one of us.
To: the_doc
***I cannot apologize for warning you about this, for telling you that the premill position is that of immature Christians (not to mention quite a few reprobates, I'm afraid).***
So which am I doc, immature or reprobate?
To: the_doc
He can but did He laugh or weep at what was to befall Jerusalem? The same is true today as it was in Jeremiah's time. The fault lies primarily with the shepherds, prophets who get full of each other's knowledge and begin to speak as from God, words that God did not speak.
Who is more important, the prophet or the sheep? When the prophet thinks he is, he is just a pharisee.
To: drstevej
So which am I doc, immature or reprobate? That's strikes me as a childish question under the serious circumstances of what I am saying. Being immature is bad enough, and you certainly are being immature.
I am not trying to pick a fight. I am trying to help you. I would hope that you would do the same if our roles were reversed.
You need to start thinking about that, not scoff at my admonitions. Besides, the difference between being immature and being a reprobate is not necessarily as obvious as some people think. Contrary to what many of the well-known DTS faculty and graduates teach in an almost emphatic way, many "carnal Christians" will prove to be no Christians at all.
So, let's get back on the topic. At best, the premill position is an immature one.
I have pointed out over and over and over that 2 Peter 3 destroys your position. As far as I can tell, you are refusing to face this because you know you have no really good counterargument.

Psalms 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
2:3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

The fault lies primarily with the shepherds, prophets who get full of each other's knowledge and begin to speak as from God, words that God did not speak.I was in that church when Jesus saved me Jessie...You are right that the shepherds feed them poison and that it is spiritual death
And you are right that we need to give them life giving words..
But dead men can not chew..and that is the bottom line
We need to lead them to the word and offer it to them but it is God which will empower them to eat by giving them a new heart and life.
I think God laughs ,not at the fate of men, but at the extremes men will go to to build their own god..
Exposure of the errors does not bother the lost..they just smirk and keep moving..happy in their current state...
The ones with ears listen
God saved me out of the mirey clay...

There are heathen, yes, by their fruits ye shall know them. There are also sheep whose shepherds have deceived them. Big difference. If you take delight in their destruction, you too will go with them, so laugh it up.
To: JesseShurun
If you take delight in their destruction, you too will go with them, so laugh it up.
As Psalms 2:4 shows it is not I who is laughing. I have a great sorrow for mankind.

Yes, what I am saying is preach to them the Word that quickens. I have a problem with the prophets acting as if they alone have the keys to the Kingdom and standing in the door, keeping others out. There's a lot of talent here, but it's wasted. There is the ones within and there is the ones without.
Believe what I believe or you are going to hell, is what they preach. No matter what you believe about the millennium, it is not going to save you.
To: the_doc
***That's strikes me as a childish question***
You are the one who declared premils either immature or reprobate.
***I am not trying to pick a fight.***
Right.
Is Dr. Walvoord immature or is he a reprobate? What about S. Lewis Johnson, Lanier Burns, John Hannah, Howard Hendricks, Clair Davis, etc., etc,? I know all of these men personally and have studied under them. I consider your statement about them a sub-Christian insult.
doc - your statement is precisely the reason I have no desire to discuss theology with you.
To: JesseShurun
Believe what I believe or you are going to hell, is what they preach.I don't preach, I simply search the word.
Ph. 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence,
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.I'll not tell you what to, or not to, believe. I can only state what I believe. I only have to worry about my own salvation, and that daily.
To: JesseShurun
There is the ones within and there is the ones without.
There are some telling things in your composition.
To: philman_36
I have no problem with preaching the Word. Just posting Scriptural soundbites though doesn't cut it. The sheep have seen through it. If you are going to preach, bring your credentials and have it.
To: philman_36
have at it.
To: philman_36
Well tell us what they are.
To: JesseShurun
If you are going to preach, bring your credentials and have it.
I repeat!..."I don't preach, I simply search the word."
Did the prophets have "credentials"? Would you believe them if they didn't have any?
Now, I'm not so vain as to presume I'm a prophet, and I don't claim in any fashion to be one, but I also don't need someone to tell me what to believe. I can read and discern the word as well as any "credentialed" personage. As you keep implying some of the "credentialed" personages are sheep in wolf's clothing, yet you appear to choose to follow only someone's credentialed teachings.
Are you sure you're not following the blind (credentialed) into the ditch yourself?
To: JesseShurun
Well tell us what they are.
I see you don't "get it".
To: JesseShurun
BTW, where exactly are you from? Somewhere in Central America perhaps? Like maybe El Salvador?
To: philman_36
I'm within, I'm without, just another paradox.
My adoration of the emminent ones is well known
To: JesseShurun
My adoration of the emminent ones is well known
To whom are you referring to as "emminent ones"?
Shouldn't your adoration be to Jesus and not men? They've not sacrificed their very life for you have they?
