Interesting comments by Mark Twian.
And it came to pass that the LDS faithful when they came upon this work of Twain were filled with much loathing. And it came to pass that many were

Interesting summary of a first time read through the Book of Mormon from the guy from the Show Me state. -- MARK TWAIN

My seeing stone broke midway through the second sentence. It was probably next.

Here is an interesting read. Maybe I will get to ask some questions I've been thinking about!
Does anyone one know the source or book that contains the reference about gods of another planet? I'd be very grateful for any help. Thanks.

Methinks I could translate the plates if I could borrow Eric Gagne's coke-bottle thick goggles, if only the plates existed.

If you used those glasses your eyes would be so crossed you'd end up making things up as you went along. Wait, that's been done already by Joe...

Here's a start:
The Book of Abraham Chapter Three which is a part of Mormon/LDS Scripture. It describes God residing near unto the planet Kolob.
I am pasting this as a link to show this is not an anti-Mormon site.

Steve, I wish you would use the non-judgmental term "non-Mormon site" as opposed to the much more sinister sounding "anti-Mormon site." It burns my heart when I hear the sinister term.

Was using the LDS terminology for non-Mormon sites. The phrase "Anti" can mean against (as in offering a response to) or "Anti" can mean hostile to. I was using the term in the former sense...

Off topic but my favorite book about God being off planet is The Divine Invasion by Phillip K. Dick.

No, I am actually talking about an excerpt I read from a senior apologist at Catholic Answers and wanted to find out a bit more.
I hesitate to post because everytime I try and approach the subject, feathers get ruffled.
I'll go ahead and ask my questions and if anyone is too horribly offended then please feel free to hit abuse on me. I'm not out to offend anyone--just rather curious.
Obviously, Mormon beliefs are distinctive. The Catholic church does not recognize Mormon baptism as valid. The problem is that while they baptize in the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit, their understanding of the trinity is quite different from tradtional Christian doctrine. They believe in not in 3 persons in 1 God, but in 3 distinct gods that comprise a trinity. They are polytheists.
What I want to know about is the belief that human beings can become gods of their own planet where multitudes worship them. I would like to be able to read that and have no clue where to look for it.
I also do not understand why they would proxy-baptize all the Popes of the Catholic church, since it is only in the last 30 years that the LDS church has ceased to publically call the Catholic church the church of Satan.
Again, I am not trying to offend, but to better understand. I am not on the thread to evangelize!

Perhaps it's transferrance of Cubs frustration!
Am planning to go to Houston this weekend to see the Astros and Reds with my son. A church Father-Son event.
