Go here, Steven.

Like I said. First I've heard of it. I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand. Its going to take a little time to digest before I can give a final yea or neigh.

And what could be more unmerited a favor than being saved from sin before you were even born?Show me the biblical evidence that Mary was born without sin. "there are none righteous, no not one."

No Catholic will say that they "worship" Mary, even if they do ask for her prayers. It is only the Protestant, looking in, who interprets such acts as "worship." Because we differ on definitions.

Yes, many millions of "Catholics" will say they "worship" Mary but, according to your narrow definition of "Catholic", you dissmiss them.

Yet, when I question how the RCC can embrace pagans, believers in witchcraft, murderers of "witches", and Evangelical Protestants, your answer is; "Doctrine is pure and unadulterated. Discipline is lacking. Our Church is a Church for sinners, not perfect people."

It is clear, to me at least, that by "Our Church" you mean the Catholic Church. This "Our Church" is the one which also include millions of those who worship Mary.

Where is the consistency in your position?

Please provide one such testimony. Your argument rests on this proposition.

First I've heard of that angle, too. You'd think at some time in our lives that if this were true, we'd have heard it taught by now.

Come on Dave. Quotes such as these are posted here periodically. You gonna make the poor guy go out and retrieve them?

Point understood. It's that "authority" question again. I don't know what any Protestant would follow the Church calendar, except because of "tradition"
Its 15 Nissan 5763 today. :-)

Good point...:-)

Speaking of which we had a very nice Passover service at the beginning of Nissan 14 (Tuesday night). As some might know this is the night our church observes a memorial of the death of Christ. It's the one night we perform the ordinances of footwashing and the Lord's Supper as commanded by Christ. It was a very beautiful and meaningful ceremony this year. It was extra special for us because this is the first year my wife participated, having only been baptized in February.

Today is the first day of Unleavened Bread and we'll be departing shortly for our "holy convocation".

Just wanted to share this with everyone and hope you have a blessed week.

Actually, just saying it was Mary's "egg" is not correct.

The human gametes contain 23 chromosones each, when combined they make the full 46 that humans have. It is the position of the Church that the entirety of Jesus' humanity is derived from Mary.

Exactly how this happened is not clear, whether God created an embryo that utilized her genetic material, or whether He created the necessary male components to fertilize her ovum. That is not something that we can ever know.

What we do know is that Jesus had only one human parent, Mary. As you see your own children and how they resemble their parents or grandparents or others in the family, Jesus would have only had such familial resemblance to Mary's family.

I have never seen a quotation from a Catholic saying that they worship Mary.

Upset? I'm not upset. I find the whole thing quite laughable. Not Mary's egg? Puh-leeze. I'm still waiting for someone from the non-Catholic side to take that one on. There is no biblical evidence to support such a claim. Quester said he sided with Dave, but there's still not much in the way of rebuking that erroneous statement.

I won't take it on simply because I had never heard this novel idea before, and after considering it, I decided it made no difference.

Do you find more Biblical support for the Immaculate Conception and Bodily Assumption of Mary?

BTW, I do agree the "Mary" thing is close to an obsession with biblewonk. On the other hand, I find some of his postings interesting and I find no lies in anything he has posted.

Sad, but not unexpected.

and after considering it, I decided it made no difference.

How can it make no difference? It obviously makes an enormous difference as to who Jesus is. If He is actually the Son of Mary, this is different than if she was a mere surrogate.

The honor accorded to Mary changes.

But, that is nothing. The real issue, as I asked the others, is how Jesus can take on our sins if He isn't even related to us?

If He is not a man, truly a man, descended from Adam, then how does He redeem us?

I would be very suspicious if the Pope did not offer a Mass of thanksgiving after he was recuperated.

I am certain you know by now I think the RCC and, especially JPII, are heading down the path of Mariolitry.

I would feel much better if I knew JPII had ever publicly, in any forum, given full credit to God.

Has the Pope ever publicly thanked God, as he did Mary, for "guiding" the bullet?

Pope?

Bullets?

;o)

There are soooooo many errors in the RC church that it simply becomes confusing to try and address them all. I can't stand their false manmade priesthood, I can't stand their manmade popehood, I can't stand their definition of grace, I can't stand their weak Jesus the belief in whom has almost nothing to do with salvation, I can't stand their transubstantiation, I can't stand their works doctrine, I can't stand their purgatory, I can't stand their relics and pomp and cerimony, I can't stand their bloody history, I can't stand the robes and the pepper shaker on a stick. But I have to stay on target with what I think is the most grievous error. Maybe I should have picked their weak Jesus and focused on a purer gospel.
