“’Thus the writer to the Hebrews is saying that since the time of Joshua an observance of Sabbath rest has been outstanding.’(70) We would conclude then that both the reference to cessation from work found in v. 10 and the term ‘sabbatismos—Sabbathkeeping’ used in v. 9 make it abundantly clear that the writer is thinking of a literal Sabbath observance.”
Hebrews 3-4. Heart, heart, heart, heart, heart. (Six times.)
The author of Hebrews wrote to warn the reader of the dangers of reverting to Judaism. Certainly, Jewish followers of Christ continued to rest on the Sabbath, but the point here is that was never enough. They never truly entered into the real meaning of the Sabbath if there was mere outward compliance. So, the point of the passage is to use the Sabbath sign given to Israel to illustrate how Christ is our source of spiritual rest. The ceasing from our own works in 4:10 is spiritual. To make it about resting from physical work is to miss the ENTIRE point of the passage.
Quote
There were seven feasts/festivals in the Law of Moses that were “Sabbaths” that might fall on some other day than the weekly-7th-day-sabbath
Unlearner,
The Father’s calendar has only one 7th Day Sabbath.
And the Spring Unleavened Bread and the Fall Tabernacles start on the same day, the 15th.
That day, according to scripture, is the Father’s weekly and annual Sabbath. The 15th Days of every month are His weekly Sabbaths, and annual Sabbaths in the Spring and Fall Feast months.
The only Sabbath that didn’t land on His 8th,15th,22nd, 29th Days of His month, is the Day of Atonement, in His 7th month.
That day even has a day between His weekly 7th Day Sabbath (8th day) and His annual Sabbath (10th day) as a preparation for Israel.
The Feast of Passover, the 14th Day, is the Father’s 6th Work Day, a preparation day for His weekly, and annual Sabbath, the 15th Day, 1st day of His Feast of Unleavened Bread.
The Day after the Sabbath, or the 16th Day, is the Father’s 1st work day and is the Feast of First Fruits/Wavesheaf.
The Feast of Weeks occurs on the Father’s 29th Day of His 4th month, a weekly and annual Sabbath.
(Something that would be news to Judaism and Christianity, as they miss it every year)
Tabernacles, again, begins on the 15th Day of His 7th month, which is His weekly and annual Sabbath in the 7th month.
The last and Great Day of the Feast, the 8th Day of the Feast, is the Father’s 22nd Day, and is a weekly and annual Sabbath in His 7th month.
Judaism and Christianity do not follow this.
Judaism actually has postponement rules for Passover because His Passover might conflict with their Babylonian Saturday.
His Feast of Passover, the 14th Day, His 6th work day, can land on any Babylonian day and it doesn’t change the fact that it is His 6th work day, the day of Preparation for the weekly, and annual Sabbath.
Judaism doesn’t believe Passover is the 6th Day.
Judaism believes Babylonian Friday is the 6th Day,
So does Christianity.
So does Islam..
Wait till Judaism and Christianity learn the Truth.
And wait till they learn why the 10th Day of the 7th month is holy and an annual Sabbath.
It has to do with the Passover Lamb and His birth, and His baptism.
But Judaism and Christianity prove daily, weekly, monthly they don’t follow the Lamb..
Do what you want on His New Moon Days, feasts and Sabbaths.
Just know that to find those shadows, you can’t rely on Judaism or Christianity to tell you the correct time..
Or ignore those shadows and follow Babylon.
Babylon will also tell you what is a work day and what is holy.
Exodus 34:
10 Then the Lord said: “I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the Lord, will do for you.
28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he(The Lord) wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
Jeremiah 31:31
31
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
32
It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to[d] them,[e]”
declares the Lord.
And Ruy,
Moses came down the Mount just over 100 days after Passover, with those tablets of the Covenant, and about 3,000 were slain that day.
And the Holy Spirit came down just over 100 days after Passover, and fell upon those believers, and about 3,000 were saved in Acts on that same day.
Those ten Commandments no longer on tablets of stone, but written in the Stony hearts of His people for the New Covenant.
Same ten Commandments given to Moses, is now to be written in the New Covenant Church hearts and minds..
The 100 representing the New Covenant believer with His Commandments in their hearts and minds.
Some get to 30 (that’s when Israel was fed by manna) some get to 60(that’s when the Covenant Law was thundered to Israel, His Ten Commandments) some to 100 (That’s when Moses came down with the tables of stone, the Ten Commandments)
Some are wayside, rocky, thorny.. some 30 (being fed), some 60(some hear the Commandments of Covenant), some 100(Commandments of Covenant written in their hearts and minds)
The goal for every believer is 100.
According to the gospels,
In Mathew the numbers go down, 100,60,30.
In Mark, they ascend, 30,60,100.
In Luke only 100 is referenced.
Almost like there was going to a time in the Church Age when the only thing Spiritual Israelites would be happy with is being fed (30), and wouldn’t have ears to hear His Commandments,(60) Covenant, or have them written on their Stony hearts.(100)
But by the end of the Church Age, maybe there would be an interest in not just being fed, but hear His Commandments, and to have them written in their hearts and minds..
“And the Spring Unleavened Bread and the Fall Tabernacles start on the same day, the 15th. That day, according to scripture, is the Father’s weekly and annual Sabbath. The 15th Days of every month are His weekly Sabbaths, and annual Sabbaths in the Spring and Fall Feast months.”
Seems like weeks under your paradigm would be of an arbitrary length rather than the original 7 days of creation/rest.
You claim this is “according to scripture” without providing the scriptures or how these scriptures point you to your conclusion.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Ezekiel 46:1
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
So, according to scripture:
Day of the New Moon, Day 1 of months, gate open
Day 2 of months, 1st work day, gate shut
Day 3 of months, 2nd work day, gate shut
Day 4 of months, 3rd work day, gate shut
Day 5 of months, 4th work day, gate shut
Day 6 of months, 5th work day, gate shut
Day 7 of months, 6th work day, gate shut
Day 8 of months, 7th Day Sabbath, gate open
Day 9 of months, 1st work day, gate shut
Day 10 of months,2nd work day, gate shut
Day 11 of months,3rd work day, gate shut
Day 12 of months,4th work day, gate shut
Day 13 of months,5th work day, gate shut
Day 14 of months,6th work day, gate shut: Passover
Day 15 of months,7th Day Sabbath, gate open: ULB & Tabernacles
Day 16 of months,1st work day, gate shut:First Fruits & Manna
Day 17 of months,2nd work day, gate shut
Day 18 of months,3rd work day, gate shut
Day 19 of months,4th work day, gate shut
Day 20 of months,5th work day, gate shut

Day 26 of months,4th work day, gate shut
Day 27 of months,5th work day, gate shut
Day 28 of months,6th work day, gate shut
Day 29 of months,7th Day Sabbath, gate open: Feast Of Weeks
Seek out sighting of New Moon
Btw, Feast of Weeks-day Moses came down with the tablets of His Covenant, the 10 Commandments, and 3,000 were slain.
Same day The Holy Spirit came down and about 3,000 were saved.
Israel was delivered from bondage by the blood of the Lamb on the 15th day of His first month.
Spent a month in the wilderness and arrived , Exodus 16, on the 15th of His 2nd month.
Manna began falling on the next day, the 16th day, and fell for 6 work days
(16th-21st, see pattern above).
Another month and they arrive at the Mount.
30+30=60.
The Law, His Commandments are thundered down from the Mount (after Israel was in the wilderness for 60 days at this point),
Moses goes up the Mount for 40 days and comes down with the 2 tables of the Covenant, the 10 Commandments, and 3,000 are slain.
That’s 30+30+40, or 100 days after Israel is delivered by the blood of the Passover Lamb..
If one tries to count 50 days for those 7 Sabbaths after Unleavened Bread, they can’t get to exactly 49 days using His calendar, like instructed in Leviticus 23.
They will reach 50 days before the 7th 7th Day Sabbath because He has a Day of the New Moon that isn’t, according to scripture, isn’t one of His 6 work days or His 7th Day Sabbath.
Because one can’t get to exactly 49 days with His calendar, it requires a count of 50 days AFTER His 7th Sabbath.
A numbering of 50 days after the 7th Sabbath, one will fall on the 29th Day of His 4th month, a weekly Sabbath (above pattern) and the day that commemorates the end of Moses’ 40th day on the Mount.
The scriptures can show that His 8th Day,His 15th,His 22nd Day, His 29th Day, is always His weekly Sabbath day.
The Son was born on a day religion doesn’t separate from His 6 work days or His Sabbath.
The Father, Creator, has a day every month, that begins His months.
If they followed the Son, they would know the Truth.
And the Truth would set them free.
Tomorrow, thanks to His Creation and His Word, it’s the 8th Day of His 4th month.
A weekly Sabbath.
Makes today His 7th Day of His month, which is His 6th work day.
Today is the end of His 1st work week where He created the remaining creatures, and man.
Genesis 2:2 in my bible describes it this way:
And on the seventh day (see above 7th day of His months, is His 6th work day), God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day (see above 8th Day of His months, is His 7th Day Sabbath)from all his work which he had made.
That version says there is a seventh day when He finished His work.
And a seventh day when He rested from all His work.
The bible template shows that there are two seventh days back to back.
One is His 6th Day of His week, one is His 7th Day Sabbath.
Without that pattern in scriptures, one would see a contradiction in Genesis 2.
How can He complete all His work on the 7th and rest from all His work on the 7th?
The answer is He has a 7th day every month that is His 6th work day where it commemorates Him finishing His Work of Creation.
That same 6th day in the second week is the 14th Day, that’s the day His Son finished His work as the Lamb.
That same 6th day in the 3rd week is the 21st day, that’s the last day of Manna from heaven, which was a double portion, because none would fall the next Day- because that day is the 7th Day Sabbath.
The 4th week has the 28th day as the 6th work day.
Every week commemorates His work of Creation. Work they did.
The second week also commemorates His work of Redemption and Justification. Work His Son did.
The third week commemorates His work of Convicting the World and Sanctification. Work the Holy Spirit does.
The fourth week. Well that’s a mystery. Maybe that’s a week that will commemorate the Work of Glorification.
Or the work the Holy Spirit is doing will all end on its prophetic 3rd week’s 6th day, the 21st Day, and bring about the 22nd Day, the weekly and annual Sabbath.
I’ve referenced Ezekiel 46:1 before.
A lot can be gained by numbering the Days like Ezekiel was taught.
Israel was taught this too.
And Gentiles?
Well, His annual Sabbath Days fall on His weekly Sabbaths.
He’s created His calendar to do just that for Jew and Gentile.
Isaiah 66:23And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. 24And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
Since the New Moon is separate from His 6 work days and His Sabbath, according to scripture, I simply asked Him why.
And what His New Moon Day was, if it wasn’t one of His 6 work days or His Sabbath.
I was willing to unlearn, unlearner..
New Moon Day, gate open
6 work days, gate shut
7th Day Sabbath, gate open.
1+6+1=8
That 1 , or New Moon Day. that begins His months is a commemoration of His Work too.
Commemorates His work Before He says Let there Be Light..
Commemorates Genesis 1:1, John 1:1 and John 1:14.
Not once a year, but once a month.
At the beginning of each His months.
To learn that, one must be willing to unlearn what they’ve been taught.
And numbering days, one can attain to a heart of wisdom.. Psalm 90...
The Sovereign, every month:
a Day of the New Moon that begins His months,
He has 4 weeks of 6 work days and 7th Day Sabbaths.
That totals:
1 New Moon Day
24 work days (4 weeks of 6 work days)
4 Sabbath Days (4 that follow those 4 work weeks)
1+24+4=29
See pattern above days 1-29.
If one looks Revelation, the numbers 24 and 4 are used.
They are in the presence of He who sits on the Throne, the First and the Last.
And a Lamb, as slain, in the middle of them..
Amazingly, His calendar rehearses that every month.
Judaism can’t teach that.
Christianity can’t teach that.
His scriptures can.
Extraordinary claims do require extraordinary evidence.
And His Word kept confirming His New Moon Day, His 6 work Days, His Sabbath-
From Genesis all the way to Revelation.
Whether people can buy that kind of gold, refined by fire, is another thing.
I found out why He separated the Day of the New Moon.
And why religion doesn’t.
Satan deceives the whole world, especially religion..
Today is His 7th Day of His 4th month, as Moses tells time. That’s because the sighted moon was seen on June 18th.
If one follows the template, June 19th was the ‘Day of the New Moon’, Day of the New Moon (interesting that it was Moon Day June 19th for Babylon)
If there was a temple, and not an Islamic shrine in Jerusalem, the gate would have been opened.
June 20th, would be His 2nd Day of His month, 1st work day commemoration of Let there be Light. (See pattern above)
And today would be the 6th work day, the 7th Day of His month,
Tomorrow would be His 8th Day and His 7th Day Sabbath.
If one was following the bible template.
Babylon sells a different way to tell time.
In about 3 weeks, The Feast of Weeks will commemorate when Moses comes down the Mount , and about 3,000 were slain.
The same day in Acts when the Holy Spirit came down and about 3,000 were slain.
That day is July 17th this year. A Monday. A work day according to Babylon.
About 100 days after Passover.
Actually 102 days after The 15th Day of His 1st month.
102 doesn’t sound like much, until one breaks it down.
Was there any 102s in scripture?
At least one.
Elijah and the 2 captains and their 50.
1+50+1+50=102
Interesting number
Moses goes back up the Mount a couple days later, and stays another 40.
Comes down with New tablets and His face shines.
That day isn’t a Sabbath Day.
But it is about 144 days after Passover and Unleavened Bread.
Maybe Elihah and Moses had the same 40 days on the Mount. Elijah having to cover his face and Moses having his face shine.
It’d be nice to know what day that is Moses came down the Mount.
Only because it Might tie in to the Mount of Transfiguration and when Moses and Elijah were seen on the Mount as Christ was transfigured before His remnant of 3 Disciples..
Christ and 144 is referenced in Revelation too. But it’s 144,000.
Interesting that there is a day, 144 days from Passover, where Moses comes down the Mount and his face shines.
Like he’s been in the presence of the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob.
Judaism can’t teach this.
Christianity can’t teach this.
And yet, He can.
***And he(The Lord) wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.***
So, why did Christ die on the Cross if obedience to the Sabbath Day and commandments saves us?
Galatians 2:
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Ezekiel 46:1
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
Nothing in this verse supports a particular way of counting Sabbaths. There is no correlation between weeks and months.
From the best I can tell, your way of counting sabbaths would mean there are leftover days every month that are not part of a 7-day week.
Honestly, it sounds nonsensical.
Days, months, and years are based on astronomical events involving the sun, heart, and moon. But weeks are not connected to such events. It’s simply diving time into groups of 7 days, starting from creation.
So, on average, a new moon will fall on a sabbath 1 out of 7 times. Otherwise, the new moons are additional to the regular sabbaths.
Ezekiel 46
Highlights days and instructions for those days
Day of the New Moon - gate open
6 work days - gate shut
Sabbath- gate open
Babylonians have a problem with that instruction.
There’s 8 days there in that instruction, not 7.
There’s something called the Day of the New Moon
There’s something called the 6 work days
There’s something called the Sabbath
Do you know what a New Moon Day is?
Do you know why He separates them from His 6 work days and Sabbath?
According to scripture, His New Moon Day can’t land on His Sabbath. According to scripture, one of them may be treated like a Sabbath in the 7th month, but they are specifically separate from His Sabbath in Ezekiel 46.
But His 6 work days are never the Day of the New Moon, according to scripture.
And the Day of the New Moon has the gate open, like His Sabbaths, but not a Sabbath day..
Babylon runs out of their 7 days to make sense of that.
The Sovereign doesn’t run out of days to make sense of that.
He simply has one more day than what religion teaches.
And that day is central to understanding much of what the bible would call Satan’s deceiving the whole world.
This concept of 29 or 30 days isn’t foreign to Islam and Judaism.
Their calendars incorporate the moon in their timekeeping.
There are months that have 29 days, and months that have 30 days.
That 30th day, I wondered about too.
What is it? Well, in scripture, it appears to be called a new moon.
The Israelites Johnathan and David aren’t ignorant of a New Moon Day.
Amos the prophet mentions in Amos 8, a rough period of time where the markets and stores are closed during the Sabbath and New Moon.
Those 30 day months, if the moon isn’t sighted, engineers a 3 day month end scenario we’d see more like a 3 day weekend..
The 29th, 7th Day Sabbath
The 30th, new moon, 30th day- last day of month
The 1st, New Moon Day, new month.
The gates would be open at the temple on those days.
And according to Amos, markets would be closed for those 3 days.
Here’s Amos:
“In that day,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “the songs in the temple will turn to wailing.[a] Many, many bodies—flung everywhere! Silence!”
4 Hear this, you who trample the needy
and do away with the poor of the land,
5 saying,
“When will the New Moon be over
that we may sell grain,
and the Sabbath be ended
that we may market wheat?”—
skimping on the measure,
boosting the price
and cheating with dishonest scales,
6 buying the poor with silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals,
selling even the sweepings with the wheat.
If the month has 29 days, it has the 7th Day Sabbath (29th)
Then the Day of the New Moon (1st)
Only two days they couldn’t sell in the market.
If the month has 30 days, it has the 7th Day Sabbath (29th), the 30th (new moon) and 1st( Day of the New Moon)
Three days they couldn’t sell in the market ..
The New Moon Days are in the scriptures.
They aren’t a foreign concept.
They may be easier to study with a concordance so one can see how many references there are to the New Moon.
Something that is absolutely foreign to those who only tell time with the sun.
And even a little foreign to Islam and Judaism that use His light in the firmament to tell months, yet still deny the Son.
If Islam and Judaism separated His New Moon Day from His 6 work days and His Sabbath, they’d see the Lamb finish His work on the 6th Day, then rest in the tomb on the Sabbath, and raised on the first day.
Those three days this year wasn’t Friday, Saturday Sunday.
They were Woden’s Day, April 5th as His 6th Day Passover.
Thor’s Day, April 6th as His 7th Day Sabbath.
And good Frigg day, April 7th as His 1st Day and Resurrection Day.
Interstate the Father commemorated His Son’s Resurrection on the day the work commemorated the death.
Who died on that Friday?
It wasn’t the Passover Lamb. His death was commemorated two days before Good Friday, on the Father’s 6th work Day- Passover. (Which was hosted this year by Babylonian Woden’s day April 5)
Judaism and Christianity fulfilling prophecy daily, weekly, monthly.
Throw Islam in too and it’s a trifecta of being deceived by Satan..
Satan deceives the whole world..
Christ died to save sinners.
Christ died to deliver Spiritual Israel from the bondage of sin.
Christ died to sow a seed for a harvest.
Christ’s blood of the New Covenant means one never has to sacrifice in ceremony any other animal, or offer drinks and meals, to cleanse their sin.
The Old Covenant animal offerings, meal offerings, drink offerings were no longer needed in the New Covenant, they were a shadow of His ultimate sacrifice, to offer up once, a sacrifice for sins.
No other blood Justifies but the Passover Lamb.
His blood Justifies.
His Holy Spirit Sanctifies.
Our sins under the Old Covenant meant we would travel to Jerusalem and have to sacrifice an animal.
That work of the law wouldn’t solve our sin problem.
His death is a free gift, Grace.
Amazing Grace.
So if we sin, we can’t cleanse ourselves by booking a trip to Jerusalem and slitting the throat of an innocent lamb.
That work of the Law of Moses doesn’t justify.
Only His Blood Justifies.
And His Holy Spirit Sanctifies.
It’s all His Work.
We just live and love.
It’s interesting that when one asked him what must be do to inherit eternal life, Christ answered with ‘You know the Commandments’ (and interesting Remember the Sabbath wasn’t one He referenced specifically)
And Christ also when describing His Kingdom, He mentioned two groups: the least in the Kingdom. And the greatest in the Kingdom.
Mathew 5
18For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
The least are still in the Kingdom according to the scriptures.
The greatest are still in the Kingdom according to t.
The difference between the two is plain.
That doesn’t appear to be an issue of Justification.
That’d be more along the lines of Sanctification..
Nope. Not referencing the 7th-day-Sabbath.
The weekly sabbath or yearly sabbaths? In verse 16, the text of the King James Version talks about "the sabbath days" (plural). Many point out that the word "days" was added by the translators. This is absolutely correct. But we must ask, why did the translators add "days" and not "day"? The reason is because the word "sabbath" here is plural. In the Greek, not only does the word "days" not appear in the original texts, but the word "the" here does not appear either! The correct reading of this verse is not "the sabbath days," the correct reading is "sabbaths" (as rendered in Interlinear Greek/English New Testament books). This passage is not in reference to the sabbath "day," but to the yearly sabbaths.
Throughout the New Testament books, when the seventh day sabbath is referenced, it says, "the sabbath," or "the sabbath day." But Colossians 2:16 does not say "the sabbath;" the word "the" does not appear before the word "sabbath," because this word is not referring to "the" seventh day sabbath, but to yearly "sabbaths."
Please show me from Scripture AND history....ECF’s talking about it, etc... where Christ annulled one of His commandments, and not just ANY commandment. The 4th Commandment, that specifically says to REMEMBER, in commemoration of creation and He being our Creator? Show me the Jewish UPROAR it caused. It would be well documented. But, it isn’t. Because no commandment, written by the finger of God, was ever changed. Not one jot or tittle.
And, you would think that the Catholic church would know something about it, right? But they don’t, because it never happened.
Until you can show me that Christ changed any commandment, BEFORE His death (the New Covenant is sealed with His blood and cannot be changed...testator, 10 commandment laws in our minds and hearts, etc...), you are espousing the keeping of men’s traditions.
Show me a “thus sayeth the Lord”. But you can’t, because He never said it. In fact, He said the exact opposite.
http://www.ecclesia.org/truth/sabbath-objections.html
It could not be more clear that Sabbath haters are trying to jot and tittle away God’s holy, UNCHANGABLE commandment. Same applies to those who say that God’s law only applies to the UNSAVED. I suppose that the UNSAVED only need be judged on the other 9, because she is implying that the 4th commandment only applies to the Jews. Unbelievable heresy and belief system.
Were Sabbaths and Holy Days nailed to the cross?
It should be noted that Colossians 2:16 says “Let no man therefore judge you in...” Now, what does this verse say? Does it say let no man observe a sabbath day? Does it say it is wrong to observe these days? Does it say you really don’t need to observe the sabbath day? Does it say they are done away with? No! This verse says “let no man judge you” in these things, but this is very different from saying they are abolished. If I told you “don’t let any man judge you because of the glasses you wear,” I am not saying that you should abolish those glasses.
As a matter of fact, the next verse says these very things “...are a shadow of things to come...” This is spoken in the present and future tense. The point is that the tenses rule out the interpretation that the Sabbaths and Holy Days became obsolete when Christ was nailed to the cross, because of the time perspective of the statement. To have that meaning, it would have to say “were a shadow of things that came” (not “are a shadow of things to come”) since Christ had already come in the flesh, died for our sins and was resurrected by the time Paul wrote Colossians. Yet he says the Festivals, new moon and Sabbaths are (still) a shadow at the time he wrote this, many years after Christ’s death. Therefore, Paul was not teaching that the Sabbaths and Holy Days were nailed to the cross.
Many people read only until the word “sabbaths” in verse 16, and fail to read the rest of the sentence which is found in verse 17.
Here, Paul is talking about the sabbaths which were “a shadow of things to come” (Hebrews 10:1; 8:3-5), and not to the seventh-day Sabbath. There were many yearly sabbaths in ancient Israel, and these were all shadows that pointed to Christ and His work as Redeemer. These were in addition to, or “beside the sabbaths of the Lord” (Leviticus 23:38); which expressly distinguished “the sabbath of the Lord” from the other yearly sabbaths. These yearly sabbaths all foreshadowed, or pointed to, Christ Jesus. He is not talking about the weekly Sabbath, but the yearly sabbaths that offered burnt sacrifices (1 Chronicles 23:31, 2 Chronicles 2:4; 8:13; 31:3, Nehemiah 10:33, Isaiah 1:13-14, Lamentations 2:6, Ezekiel 45:17).
Paul referred to the temporary system of ordinances in Colossians 2:14-16 as being “against us” and “contrary to us.” He tied it to the meat offerings, drink offerings, and yearly festivals of the law that were “blotted out.” It is true he referred to sabbath days also in the text, but take careful note that he called them “sabbath days which are a shadow of things to come.” Were some sabbath days blotted out? Yes, there were yearly sabbaths which came on certain set days of the month, and they were fulfilled by Christ. They were shadows and pointed forward to Christ as Redeemer. All of these annual sabbaths are described in Leviticus 23:24-36, and then summarized in verses 37 and 38.
The Scripture plainly differentiates between the annual, shadowy sabbaths and the weekly “sabbath of the Lord.” The yearly sabbaths were blotted out; they had been added as a consequence of sin (Galatians 3:19). But the weekly Sabbath is a memorial of an event at the beginning of earth’s history, and had been hallowed before sin was introduced (Genesis 2:2-3), and was later repeated in the Ten Commandments written by the finger of God (Exodus 20:8-11). Therefore, the “Sabbath days” Paul declares here, as shadows pointing to Christ, can’t refer to the weekly Sabbath of the fourth commandment. The 4th commandments does not point to Christ as Redeemer, but to God as Creator.
Meat and Drink?
Concerning Colossians 2:16, “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink,” There are two different Greek words that are used for eating. The one is word #1033, broma, which means food in the Greek. The other word is word #1035, brosis, which means the act of eating. Word #1035 is the word used in Colossians 2:16. The same thing is true of the word “drink,” it means the act of drinking. In other words, don’t let anyone judge you for the act of eating or for the act of drinking. And then it goes on to say or in part of a holy day, or of a new moon, or of the sabbaths.
Now, here is a verse which uses meats and drinks in a different context:
Hebrews 9:10, “Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.”
In the above verse, the Greek word for “meats” is broma. In other words, the word means “food.” The word “drink” in this verse is the Greek word for “drink.” And they are not the same words as used in Colossians 2:16, which means the act of eating. Here is a verse which uses the same Greek word for “meat” as does Colossians 2:16:
Matthew 6:19, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:”
The word “rust” above is Greek word #1035, brosis. In other words, rust or corrosion is a form of eating away of something, and this word that is translated as”meat” in Colossians 2:16 is translated as “rust in Matthew 6:19. So, this word brosis does not mean food, it means the act of eating. Now, we must ask ourselves, Does Colossians 2:16 mean that these things were abolished? Well, was eating done away with? Was drinking abolished? Of course not. Then why do people choose to get rid of the sabbath days, but not eating or drinking? Why one and not the other, when they are mentioned in the same verse?!
I missed the last part of the above post...
...And when you get down to the question as to whether or not to let any man judge you, he doesn’t say you’re not supposed to keep the sabbath days anymore than it says not to eat or drink. He says it’s nobody’s business except the body of Christ’s as to your eating, drinking, or the sabbath days. And this verse is actually saying that the brethren at Colossians were actually keeping the sabbath days.

“The seventh day sabbath was abolished when the other seven yearly sabbaths were abolished. They are in the same category (Leviticus 23).”
Answer: No, they are not in the same category. This is easily proven by the fact that to not keep the seventh day sabbath was a sin (a transgression of God’s Law), but to not keep the other seven yearly sabbaths was not considered a sin!
For example, what was the penalty for the sin of transgressing the seventh day sabbath? The penalty was to be put to death (Exodus 31:14-16; 35:2, Numbers 15:32-36). What was the penalty for transgressing one of the yearly sabbaths? Well, there was none! You can read scripture from cover to cover and never find a penalty for not keeping a yearly sabbath. Why is there not a penalty? Because, unlike the seventh day sabbath, it was not sin to transgress them! If it was sin, then there would have been some penalty associated with its transgression.
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death;” The wages of transgressing the weekly sabbath was death. There was no penalty associated with the yearly sabbaths. Therefore, the weekly sabbath is not in the same category as the yearly sabbaths.
Your Hebrews 4 argument debunked.

“Doesn’t Hebrews 4 do away with the Sabbath?”
Answer: It should be pointed out that Hebrews 4 does not even mention the word “sabbath.” The word “sabbath” appears over 60 times in the New Testament. Why not use one of the over 60 passages in the New Testament scripture which contains the word “sabbath” in it to show us that the Sabbath was abolished? Hmm.
But, let us look at Hebrews 4, because it does refer to the seventh day rest. Hebrews 4:1-11, explains how God limits a certain day of rest so man can cease from his own works, as God did from his. As a matter of fact, in verse 9, the Greek word for “rest” is “sabbatismos”, which means “a keeping of the sabbath”. This is the only occurrence of this word in the entire scripture. So Hebrews 4:9 specifically states, “There remaineth therefore a [keeping of the sabbath] to the people of God!” Some assume that this “rest” is the heavenly rest, but he speaks of this rest as a present state: “we do enter into rest,” (verse 3), which is not consistent with a future heavenly rest.
A closer look at Hebrews 4
Verse 1 speaks of “his rest,” which means God’s rest. Verse 3 speaks of this same “rest,” and then quotes from the Old Testament in which God says “my rest.” So far, this is speaking of the same “rest,” but this chapter has not defined this “rest.” yet. But it does in the verse 4:
Hebrews 4:4, “For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.”
So, the rest spoken of in Hebrew 4, so far, is the seventh day rest, the sabbath. Continuing, verse 5 says, “And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.” Notice it says “again.” It is speaking of the same seventh day rest. Verse 6 says, “therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein.” This is speaking about some who must enter into his rest, which remains.
Verse 7 begins, “Again, he limiteth a certain day,” and then speaks about David. This verse is showing how God “again” limits the seventh day as a holy day. Verse 8 speaks about Joshua.
Now verses 9-11 speak of the “rest” for the bondservants of Christ in the New Testament age. Let us briefly summarize Hebrews 4 so far. The “rest” spoken of is God’s rest, which is the seventh day, the same day God rested on at creation. Verse 5 says “again,” and speaks of the seventh day again. Verse 6 says, “it remaineth,” and explains how the seventh day remains. Verse 7 says, “Again, he limiteth a certain day,” and is speaking about the seventh day sabbath.
Verse 5: “again.”
Verse 6: “it remaineth.”
Verse 7: “again.”
Now, how does verse 9 begin? “There remaineth”! Remains what?
Hebrews 4:9, “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”
There is only one rest spoken of in Hebrews 4. The seventh day rest. If this “rest” is a new heavenly rest, or if this rest is our rest in Jesus, then how could it “remain”? For something to remain, it must have been in existence before! It is obvious that the “rest” that remains is the seventh day rest. And remember, the Greek word for “rest” in verse 9 is “sabbatismos”, which means “a keeping of the sabbath”. This is the only occurrence of this word in the entire scripture. So Hebrews 4:9 specifically states, “There remaineth therefore a [keeping of the sabbath] to the people of God!”
However, just so there is no confusion as to what “rest” is spoken of in the above verse, verses 10 and 11 clarify what this rest is:
Hebrews 4:10-11, “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”
Notice it is speaking of “his rest,” which is defined throughout Hebrews 4 as the seventh day. And verse 10 itself explains this rest as ceasing from ones own works as God did from his! Dear reader, how did God cease from his own works? By resting on the seventh day! And if we are to rest from our own works as God did from His, then how do we do that? By resting on the seventh day as well! Just like the fourth Commandment says (Exodus 20:8-11). And don’t forget that Hebrews 4:11 commands us to enter into this same rest that God, David, and Joshua entered into, which is no other than the seventh day Sabbath of the Lord!
You make such a big deal about this one (not for the Gentiles, etc...). So, I would encourage you, and all Sabbath haters, to read it. I didn’t copy/paste it because it is a little lengthy. It’s from the same article as previously linked to. #37

37.”The Sabbath Law was given to the children of Israel only, so they are not binding on believers on Christ.”
——>Gentiles were not required to be circumcised.
Neither were Jews.
1 Corinthians 7:17Regardless, each one should lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is what I prescribe in all the churches. 18Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man still uncircumcised when called? He should not be circumcised. 19Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commandments is what counts.
——>It is impossible for your carnal mind to submit to the laws of God, to please God, or receive the things of the Spirit of God. You are uncircumcised in heart, and you reject the true sabbath-rest in Christ.
The irony is that if your heart were circumcised, you would keep God’s literal law/commandments out of love for Him. Because, obedience to His law is what we will all be judged on.
Jushua 24:14Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and truth; cast aside the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. 15But if it is unpleasing in your sight to serve the LORD, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!”
Eccl 12:13When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man. 14For God will bring every deed into judgment, along with every hidden thing, whether good or evil.
Rev 14:12Here is a call for the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Rev 22:14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
God’s people keep His laws/statutes/commandments. Those who are lost, don’t. And that certainly includes the ONE commandment that no other than JESUS CHRIST said to REMEMBER.
