Interesting to see the “other” interpretations other than the one we are used to seeing

The photographer at the Last Supper said, ‘If you all want to get in the picture, you all need to sit on the same side of the table!’

That’s why they asked for a table for 26.

You're right, Da Vinci's has dominated completely in our consciousness--I felt compelled to post it first, since otherwise viewers might be thinking about it at the expense of the rest.
But get ready for FOUR DAYS of "others".

#3 by the great Danish artist Carl Bloch. He makes the scenes come alive on his canvas. Some consider him the greatest painter to interpret the life and death of Christ, certainly among Danish artists.
#6 A magnificent fresco from the Vatopedi Monastery in Greece.
#7 Ghirlandaio - As per Tuscan tradition, his Last Supper was depicted in a monastery refectory. The details of this fresco are exquisite. All disciples surround Jesus except for Judas who sits directly in front of the table.
#13 Crespi - Great painting. Jesus seems to be faraway, haunting eyes, he knows these are the final days with his beloved disciples.
#21 A great illustration of the Last Supper by James Seward.

I wonder how many symbolic things are in some of the paintings. Saw a couple with cats and dogs in them. #13 has a knife held up, is that judas. If not, does it signify something?
I like the stylized work of #6‐ kind of a unique work.

I quite agree in the sense of appreciating his unmatched ability to capture Jesus' personality in his portraits of Him.
To me, by contrast, James Tissot is unrivaled in both the sheer volume of his work as well as his imagination in presenting clever aspects of the stories.
We would be the poorer without either of them.

Great information etabeta; thank you very much.
I was surprised how many paintings showed some type of wall covering, or drape. I suppose each of those would have been quite costly at that time.

many more to come As a sneak-peek: we have another day of the banquet with Judas' departure, one day of communion, and one of foot-washing.
Then, they'll use those clean feet for an evening stroll.
