Certainly if there were a tree (etz עץ) to represent the spirit of the month(s) of Adar אדר (Feb-Mar) it would be the gallows (etz עץ).

Lots of talk of "Nuremberg 2" these days, so I should add that when the Nazi hollered "Purimfest 1946!" shortly before having a date with a tree...

The Purim he spoke of had occurred 7 months earlier, a detail that doesn't seem to garner any attention in the commentaries. Yet it fell on March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day, as it will this year, 76 years later. (There's only been one of those match-ups in-between, in 19+57.)

Jesus had His own “date with a tree”. Had that Nazi appropriated it to himself and resisted Bonhoeffer-style, he would have refrained from whatever earned him his own date. He would have EDOM now from I AM, because Jesus’ tree never burns up. And Mordecai would approve.
