I missed yesterday. Sorry about that. I find it interesting that top billing is given to the actor for Peter and not Jesus. The series focuses on the gospel story from the disciples view so I guess Peter being the leader of the disciples that is why.

"The Chosen" are the disciples, and surprisingly, to me anyway, they are the central focus, as you say. I asked my wife last night who her favorite character is, and she said, "Why, you are dear, of course!" No, instantly and emphatically she replied, "Peter." I was surprised; my favorites are the two underdogs, Mary and Matthew. But there you go....

So far, the creators/producers have gotten absolutely EVERYTHING right on every level, in my view, supernaturally so. I have ZERO criticisms, so headlining Peter may also be the right call, the symbol for their gutsy focus: new wineskins for their custom vintage.

Thanks for the warning. Forewarned, forearmed.

That being said, I proceeded with caution and found this:

In the Bible, there is insufficient use of multiple number fives, such as 555, to determine an overall meaning...

...Multiple fives (555) confirm Moses' role as the mediator of the Old Covenant between God and the children of Israel. Deuteronomy, which is the fifth Biblical book, states the following in regards to him being an intermediary for the Israelites at Mount Sinai.

So in this context, St. Peter is symbolically holding the keys to Heaven in both the forms of the Old Covenant and of the New Covenant.

Hats off to your research and deductions, sir. I believe you have captured the essence of that artist's meaning.

Having conceded that, I hasten to disagree with that artist's symbol. Neither Peter nor anyone else can use Moses to access heaven, as the Bible is at pains to make abundantly clear, and to suggest otherwise makes me regret including that image. I disavow it.

Under the Old Covenant the nearly impossible task of exactly following some 500 commandments sufficed those observant Jews who through faith and obedience managed it.

The New Covenant opens the door for all, Jew and gentile alike who accept their salvation.

St. Peter came with the New Covenant, and therefor holds the Key of Grace and Redemption.

He also must honor the Old Covenant, else His Word to the ancient Jews would be false, therefor St. Peter holds the Key of the Law as well.

My take, YMMV, as YHWH wills...

Apparently, friend, and with the greatest respect, you have Missed the Memos from Jesus and Paul: that task is completely impossible:

"There is no one righteous, not even one...
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
Romans 3:10, 23
