Who is it that said (FROM THE CROSS!), âJohn, behold your mother.â?
1) to thank Mary for God or
2) To thank God for Mary?
Think before you answer. One is better than the other. Who gets the Glory if you honor Mary? Sorry you can’t do both. The Lord thy God is a jealous God.......... When you are honoring Mary you are not doing the other.
No one is going to hell for honoring Mary, but THERE IS A MUCH BETTTER CHOICE.
Maybe this will help the thinking process.
Joh 6:31 After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! The Scriptures say, ‘Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
Joh 6:32 Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now He offers you the true bread from heaven.
Note the slippery slope of honoring the creature instead of the creator. THE SCRIPTURES SAY, “MOSES GAVE THEM THE BREAD FROM HEAVEN TO EAT.” Jesus quickly corrects them.
That is the danger of honoring the creature Mary, instead of Creator God. I thank God for Mary’s example as well has the example of others. THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD, not his creation.
Luther and co. didn’t reform — they literally made up their own doctrine.
Like?
Have you read the Augsburg Confession - the basic statement of Lutheran doctrine? Can you tell me what in there is “made up”?

Of course, as He promised.
Good grief...
The Greek does not support your claim that He told "us" to behold her.
All of the exchange in this verse is in the singular except for one key word and I've identified that below. When John records this exchange he uses the genitive, which indicates possession, to clearly indicate that John is now the mother of Mary and Mary is his son.
To further illustrate that John took her into his household, and that's as far as the meaning of the text should go, is John's use of the word, idia. It has the following meaning:
2398 Ãdios (a primitive word, NAS dictionary) â properly, uniquely one's own, peculiar to the individual. 2398 /Ãdios ("uniquely one's own") is "stronger than the simple possessive pronoun ('own'). This emphatic adjective means 'private, personal' " (WS, 222). Helps Word Studies
There is nothing that supports the catholic eisegesis of this text that Mary was given to "us".
Hey, that’s my line! Get your own material! :)
“...Well you have me broadbrushed wrong, Protestantism isn’t something I am involved with.”
Well birds of a feather flock together.

“Of course Christians are aware of that scripture, Jesus was telling Mary and John that John would look after her.
Do you read something different into that scripture?”
No, I read something, along with the traditional Catholic Church (the only church) and numerous of her declared saints that could be in ADDITION to the understanding that John would look after her.
Saint Paul predicted that such as you would twist scripture to your own destruction by interpreting it yourselves. The one true church teaches that we are not to read the scriptures without the authority of the church to guide us. Only in that are we safe. By disparaging Mary you perhaps unknowingly, are profaning the holy and raising insult to God.
Rather, as declared the angel Gabriel:
Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“You would be better off not to wear your seatbelt...
So I was right, one of the Catholic Mary’s titles is Seat Belt?”
If you tell me what you ‘are involved with’ (refering to your denial above), then I will tell whether or not that is one of her titles.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Because, to finish your statement, ‘then to ignore mother Mary’s help in time of need, because spiritual disaster is worse than physical.’
Spiritual disaster can come from putting Mary between a believer and Jesus.”
No, it cannot!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You call her mother Mary, do you think you are her Son?
If you tell me whether or not you are Jesus’ brother through adoption, then I will tell you whether or not I am, and the answer will be self-evident.
I also reject sola scriptura,
I don’t think you do. Note the proper definition:
Sola scriptura (Latin ablative, “by Scripture alone”) is the Christian doctrine that the Bible is the supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and practice. Sola scriptura does not deny that other authorities govern Christian life and devotion, but sees them all as subordinate to and corrected by the written word of God.
I don’t think you have any argument with the above? Scripture is the test of what is true. There is nothing wrong with tradition but how do you test them for truth? Traditions have a way of changing over time.
Jewish tradition allowed for divorce but God hates divorce. How does that happen?
Note the following:
Joh 6:31 After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! The Scriptures say, ‘Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
Joh 6:32 Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now He offers you the true bread from heaven.
Jewish tradition says it was Moses that gave the bread in the wilderness.
“...the catholic eisegesis of this text that Mary was given to ‘us’.”
Didn’t a particular Saint declare in his epistle that even all the books in the world could not hold all that Jesus did and said?
So stop relying on “scripture alone” as SOLE authority. It is the holy saints of the Church who have authoritatively passed the truths addressed here regarding Jesus’ blessed mother, as well as scripture itself.
For example, as declared the angel Gabriel:
Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
By disparaging Jesus’ blessed mother you indicate a poor or immature or incomplete relationship to Jesus, until what the traditional Catholic Church teaches opens your eyes and you repent and believe the good news.
I agree, a somewhat knowledgeable person who has been SERIOUSLY led astray for no apparent good reason....very sad.
And yes that disciple did say that. But he also noted we have have the written accounts so we can know we have eternal life.
We will require the chapter and verse of where Gabriel said what you claim.
Who was there o dissent....all Christians were Catholic as all REAL and COMPLETE Christians still are.
You donât have to convince me you have to convince God. He reads FR too.
Mal 3:16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with each other, and the LORD listened to what they said. In His presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared Him and always thought about the honor of His name.
Mal 3:17 “They will be My people,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “On the day when I act in judgment, they will be My own special treasure. I will spare them as a father spares an obedient child.
Sure she will....guaranteed!!
???????????????????????????????????????what
Who does???
You: No, it cannot!
Jesus will eventually show you that you are wrong to depend on Mary instead of Him.
You can't serve two masters.
The one true church teaches that we are not to read the scriptures without the authority of the church to guide us.
They can teach that all they want, and you and others can believe it.
God says that it's the Holy Spirit that has the authority to show us what scripture means.
I'll go with God the Father, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit and ignore the teachings of the god of this world.
Being a spiritual brother to Jesus does not make Mary my mother, spiritual or otherwise.
Don't bother answering my questions, you have revealed who you are spiritually by your snark, attitude, and misunderstanding of the reality of the church that Jesus started.
Substituting Catholicism for the real body of Christ will not go well for you.
I am a Christian and became on without any protestant help or influence.
It happened while reading the Bible and receiving a powerful vision from Jesus.
Jesus took me into His heart and I now live in the Kingdom of God.
Don't worry if you don't understand that, you will one day.
Hopefully before you die in your sins.
That guarantee does not come from you, it comes from satan.
I believe God, not the father of lies.
You continue on believing as you wish but don’t expect me to join you on that wide path to destruction.
