***GMTA

And the rest of the saying is AFSD***

Nope, your acronym is meaningless for internet shortcut use.

Everybody knows what GMTA means. Same as GMLC Grate Minds Love Cheeze.

I did google afsd though for images and got a naked picture.

Oh I have them.

I haven't finished schooling you yet.

As I have said, I will reveal them when I have sufficiently posted the truth about the origins/beginnings of Catholicism.

Here is something for you:

the year 381 — First Council of Constantinople. This council amended and ratified the Nicene Creed, resulting in the version used by Christian churches around the world.
Here's some sites you can look at on your own for homework.
www.adherents.com, www.bbc.co.uk/religion, The Oxford Handbook of Global Religions (2006), The Encyclopedia of Religion (2005), the Religious Movements Page at the University of Virginia, The Cambridge Illustrated History of Religions (2002), and the Encyclopedia of World Religions (1999)

It's hard for them to even get any words in edgewise.

You need to teach them to cut and paste!!

So... ...Rome invented reading; too.

Of course not, but with their HAND copied books, libraries throughout the world, Monasteries, parishes, schools...they certainly advanced it.....the problem was not the inability to read, it was the fact that reading materials were not readily available. One reason that you need not spend too much time studying how to read Swahili is that there isn't a lot of Swahili material to be read. Libraries at that time were in major cities, full of HAND WRITTEN manuscripts, unavailable to only a few. They were extremely important because they did keep the written word alive, but until the average person could avail themselves (after the printing press)they were not of great day to day benefit to the public.

4"You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 5"You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,…

Two different commands....#1. You shall not make, #2. you shall not worship.....Moses made, but did not worship....Catholics make, but do not worship.

Selective Bible obedience there.
Obey only what Jesus taught...... if you feel like it.

Hey you folks have to own ole Lloyd. He left the Catholic Church long before the snake handling. This one is on the Anabaptists.

I won’t bother reading anything from you that doesn’t have the citation prominently located. If they are legitimate there is no reason to hide them.

how EVERY one of the 30,000 or so denominations differ from one another.... Would an idiot believe this? List the 30,000 DIFFERENT things that are POSSIBLE to differ about!

Music....dress....OSAS....if they basically agree on everything (and they probably do on most) why don't they join hands, become a powerful and influential group, and stop opposing each other???

Doesn't matter to me if you read them or not.

Others may be interested in what you expressed you wanted to know, but now don't.

I sent you the citations if you didn't see them no problem.

I told you I would post the information but would not go by your “rules”

History is history.

The body of Christ is not about being powerful and influential. It’s about being a part of the Kingdom of God

There is no opposition within but a lot of power.

The influence is from God and is passed around among other believers. You mentioned 3 things out of 30,000. That’s not too bad considering. Mostly not affecting spiritual beliefs so good try but no cigar.

Christians hand out in that giant car mentioned in the NT.

Regardless of what the motivation is, I have to admit that the comment raised questions in my mind, so it motivated me to do a little research on the issue.

Beyond what is in the Catechism, Humanae vitae seems to answer the questions raised.

Here is a link to a summary of the Encyclical:

http://catholicism.about.com/od/catholicliving/p/Humanae_Vitae.htm

Here is a link to the full text:

http://w2.vatican.va/content/paul-vi/en/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-vi_enc_25071968_humanae-vitae.html

I found reading them to be both interesting and informative.

Peace,
Rich

I have golf buddy down in Alabama who as a teen used to catch the rattlers, copperheads, and moccasins for a church down that way. But they didn't kill the snakes, as I recall.

Disagree. I’ve had catholic posters want some of my threads pulled just because they didn’t like the content.

Um, Jesus gave a little prophecy that Paul fulfilled when he was shipwrecked and the asp came from the logs on the fire and bit him ... I don’t think Jesus was telling His disciples to handle snakes as a ritual and drink poisonous liquids as a proof source.

Truth shinning the Light of God into the darkness is not wanted by some.

King James Bible
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.--John 1:5

Who cares what the METHOD is: it prevents pregnancy!

1 artificially blocks a natural bodily function, 1 is used when that function probably won't take place...HUGE difference.

They like to claim that no one could read so they can justify the Church from withholding Scripture from the laity.

Just stop for a minute and think about it for a second....if there was nothing in your town for the average person to read.....why and how would you learn to read??????sheesh
