So your personal interpretation is always correct and you need no guidance in understanding God’s word. Wow!

In all the responses I've received from Catholics, I begin to see why the church doesn't want the laity to try to interpret Scripture for themselves.

I never said that nor did I imply that. What I denied was that I am following a man, that Catholics cannot understand, simply because there is one point of agreement in understanding of Scripture.

When two people both reading Scripture come to the same conclusion, does NOT mean by default that one is *following* the other. It simply is evidence of the fact taht the Holy Spirit is guiding them in understanding it.

Feel free to attend a Catholic Mass so that you can learn about the Good News.

I always doubt that a Catholic knows what the "good news" is...because they do not have any good news to share ..thanks for affirming that

Sola Scriptura was the central doctrine and foundation for all I believed when I was Protestant. On a popular level, it simply meant, “If a teaching isn’t explicit in the Bible, then we don’t accept it as doctrine!” And it seemed so simple. Unassailable. And yet, I do not recall ever hearing a detailed teaching explicating it. It was always a given. Unchallenged. Diving deeper into its meaning, especially when I was challenged to defend my Protestant faith against Catholicism, I found there to be no book specifically on the topic and no uniform understanding of this teaching among Protestant pastors.

You have a failed Pentecostal Holy Roller as your chief, main NT apologist...That alone ought to tell you something...

1Jn_5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

That's some pretty solid 'scripture alone' doctrine right there...It's some pretty solid evidence that there is no path to salvation outside of what is written in the scriptures...

So the sad thing is you get some character who was 'slain in the spirit', speaks in a non human language as proof of his being filled with the Holy Ghost, heals people with the wave of a hand (something no Catholics can do) to handle your anti-bible apologetics...

Did he ever explain how he was a born-again, spirit filled Christian, and then he wasn't???

I have listened to this faker...He leaves out scripture, adds scripture and ignores scripture to try and justify your relgion...And you guys don't know the difference...

So the Amen chorus just ignores history and it interprets the Bible accordingly.

You mean Catholic history with all it's forgeries and lies??? Yes, I do ignore that...

So Peter and the apostles and their successors are fiction.

The Catholic version of it certainly is fiction...

Again, you should thank the Catholic Church for following sacred tradition and preserving the Bible so that you can read it and dispute the words of God that you do not agree with.

My bible came from the Hebrew scriptures, not those scriptures that came out of Africa...So no, no connection whatsoever...

And where do you get guidance to "interpret " the scriptures?

You probably weren’t but my answer applies to everything. Beauty does not save. Only Jesus does that. Jesus taught on the beach. No fancy clothes, building, furnishings, etc. It seems like Catholics put too much emphasis on material things, etc instead of Jesus. Jesus does not care about clothes, the way things are repeated, and other things. I was watching a program about the Vatican. Do you realize just how much junk they have in a hidden room? What good is all that gold doing anyone? I was amazed at it.

How can they know the good news if they can never have assurance of their salvation. Ask a Catholic if they are going to heaven when they die, the best you can get out of them is, "I hope so".

Why don’t you attend Mass and experience it for yourself?

Why don’t you go to a Bible believing, Bible teaching Protestant church so you can learn more about what the Bible says?

You made me laugh.

ANYBODY can "read" scripture. (As in " we've been all through the scripture in three years")
It's STUDYING scripture, UNDERSTANDING scripture, MEMORIZING scripture, and (most of all APPLYING scripture that makes the difference.

And- it is the indwelling Holy Spirit who leads us in the process. Otherwise, it's like a pig trying to use HTML. ¬ /b>

(That was intentional!)

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! God Is Good.

>>Seems to me that I heard something about Catholic priests and boys...... <<

And a pope Francis. It's amazing that Catholics would dare bring up some non affiliated Protestant when they have the Francis as their pope.

Trying to silence the women here with a passage about what should be done in the “church” ain’t gonna work. If you fear the word of God try to support your beliefs with scripture. The assumption of Mary would be a good place to start.

>>If anything it proves there are teachings and ways of life following Christ that were taught not written.<<

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Please prove that what the Catholic Church teaches as "tradition" is exactly what the apostles were teaching that they called tradition. If you cannot we must understand that the Catholic Church teaches "another gospel" and is to be considered accursed.
