Yeah, because it isn’t “prudential judgment”. It clearly goes against Traditional Catholic teaching....it is heresy.

Good point. Seems I recall CS Lewis asking if you could imagine any more “get your attention” circumstance than being sentenced to certain death (this was back when it was certain...and timely).
Tha shame is on “today’ society” for recoiling at the DUTY to execute murderers. MURDERERS! That’s the only criminal group left with a snowball’s chance of execution, and we can’t bear THAT. Failure to execute = a loss of nerve.

Next think you’ll know is that Francis will state that soldiers in war should never shoot to kill. Can you imagine fighting ISIS with that constraint?
This is why leftism is demonic, its illogical and ultimately destructive to mankind in this fallen world, the world leftists pretend is not. Thanks be to God he restrains evil and Satan’s ministers of false righteousness. Perhaps on His Day we will only know how many horrors we were spared because of His great mercy!

With all due respect to Pope Francis, regarding the death penalty he once again seems to be replacing God’s commands with the “traditions of men” that Jesus warned about in Mark 7: 7-13.
Even in these New Testament times, the Scriptures refer to things that deserve death. This is evidenced by Romans 1:32.
