Francis could care less what B16 or JP2 wrote about Catholic teaching. He is bound and determined to let divorced and remarried without an annulment receive Holy Communion. He let the shacked up receive communion when he archbishop in Argentina. He believes the Eucharist serves a “healing” purpose and no one should be denied it. The Eucharist does not serve a healing function, that’s what the sacrament of confession is for. Francis’ is the thinking of many Catholic priests that received their formation in the 70s and 80s, after Vatican II. An “invalid marriage” is a mortal sin and you are not in a state of grace when you are living in an invalid marriage. You absolutely have to be a in state of grace to receive Holy Communion. Apparently what Francis and the German leftists want to do away with is the requirement of having to be a state of grace to receive the Blessed Sacrament. No other way around it.
