The church is for the equipping and building up of the saints to prepare them for the work of reaching the world around them. Jesus command was to GO and make disciples, not build a church building and wait for them to come in and threaten them with hell fire and damnation because they don’t submit to the church’s rules and leadership and they miss going to Sunday services.
Precious few people who aren’t saved are going to suddenly decide to go to church and get saved.
The best way to convince someone to become a Christian is through relationships, showing the love of Christ to them on a personal basis, just like Jesus did.
He went about doing good. He healed people and cast out demons and people were drawn to Him because of the love that He showed them.
The only ones He was harsh with were the religious leaders of the day, who were hypocrites.
And nothing has changed in 2,000 years. Even today the religious leaders tend to be the biggest hypocrites. There’s precious few men who can handle the fame, money, and power that comes with being in a leadership position.
Don't stop there.
Jesus continued, "of all the nations, handing out Bibles, because the Bible is the sole or ultimate rule of faith."
Actually, He didn't say that. He said...
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Jesus never said that lay people or clergy would be sinless. But He gave His Church teaching authority.
The church is "the pillar and foundation of truth," according to St. Paul, and Jesus is Truth Itself.
I thought the word “catholic” meant all-inclusive. How is opening the doors to a wider sector of lost souls deemed as losing souls? It seems that there may be a few more that hear the Word and become saved for God’s glory.

Yes, the title was misleading, but I think most people know that....even those who posted as if they didn’t.
Simple. By not preaching the Truth along with “opening the doors”.
I once attended a post Vatican II church (something I will not do anymore) where the priest proclaimed that all were welcome, including gay and straight. But did I ever hear him preach on the sin of homosexuality? OF course not.
What we are seeing is just more modernism flooding the Church. This has been happening since Vatican II and the years leading up to it. Those that continue to believe that things were sooooo much better with Benedict XVI really need to open their eyes.
Francis is just more obvious about it and is now including areas of teaching that, up to this point, was not touched.

I suppose having companions in hell would be some consolation in some perverted way.

Interesting that He didn't say "make up truth". Pillars and foundations hold up things. The truth is found in scripture alone. A pillar or a foundation never once have built something.

REPENTANT sinners. If you are not willing to acknowledge God and accept His will, you have no place in His body.

That is not a command given by Jesus anywhere in Scripture and to post it as if it is will lead to wrong theology and lead people astray.

That verse taken out of context by you AGAIN, has been corrected many times and since it appears that it has not yet sunk in, I will post the verse IN CONTEXT again.....
This passage is not a blanket order to obey the leadership of any church which claims that it alone is the one true church.
It is at the end of a discourse addressing how to handle disputes in the body.
It lays out very specifically the steps one is to go through in resolving personal conflict within the body.
Matthew 18:15-20 If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church.
And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
NOWHERE does Jesus command us to "listen to the church".
The comment is *IF he does not listen to the church, then......*
That is a gross misinterpretation of the passage to claim or imply that it is a standing order of Jesus to listen to the Catholic church.
The clear meaning is here for everyone to see.It's dealing with disputes among believers, not absolute authority given to *the Church*.
Do you remember when Pope Francis said “who am I to judge?”
“I eat of the flesh and drink of the Blood of Christ as commanded. I believe and have been baptized, all without the help of rome”
Drinking that grape koolaid and piece of wonder bread given to you from pastor Billy Bob is not eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Christ.
