Parthenogenesis (where an offspring develops from an unfertilized egg) occurs in certain species, but not in mammals. Period.
Taking the position that Mary somehow managed this trick is equivalent to saying the Sun revolves around the Earth.
Maybe an Angel shot her with a fertilisation Ray gun?
In point of fact, the Church did take this positionthat the universe revolved around the Earthuntil people started laughing out loud at them during church services and they couldnt be hustled outside and burned fast enough.
The result of "theistic evolutionism" being accepted as "orthodox," ladies and gentlemen!
No wonder you're such a fan of King. You share his "religious" beliefs.
Can you believe all the dreck being posted on this thread? I had no idea FR had so many secular humanists!
And I'm one of them. In fact, I'm the only non-chrstian on this thread who admits he's a non-chrstian. But I used to be one, and I know that in order to be an orthodox chrstian, one must believe the dogmas!
Unfortunately, chrstianity has two definitions: one is an orthodox believer in the various chrstian denominations, but another is a follower of J*sus as a great moral philosopher. Obviously FR is riddled with these types.
But why shouldn't it be? Many of the Founding Fathers were this type of chrstian, and the John Birch Society was founded by an evolutionist Unitarian.
Was Martin Luther King a Christian? This is an oldie, but very interesting.

An outstanding question, which has been posed on FR before, with remarkably little discussion or proposed solutions.
One of the best answers I've seen is rendered by those who warn against 'do-gooder-ism'.
Recall the fall from the Garden was a consequence of eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of 'good' and 'evil'. This action, which God had warned Adam and Eve not to perform, lest they would surely die, reveals much of the human condition.
Note the spiritual death which happened after this action. It corresponds with the innate ability of all mankind to now discern between good and evil. Alas, that knowledge doesn't save us from condemnation, rather it abets the death of our fellowship with God.
We are tempted to substitute our instinctive knowledge of good and evil, for living through faith in Christ. This kills our fellowship with Him.
It is possible to perform good works either as a believer or an unbeliever, but in order for our work to be recognized as righteous, it must be performed in a right way. This happens when it is performed through faith in Christ. If not performed through faith in Him, it is parlayed into evil by the Adversary as a counterfeit substitute for righteousness.
Those who live in the worldly system, independent of faith in Christ, promote living independently of His Plan. This is the very definition of sin, which is a word for "missing the target" shouted when Greek archers would aim in their target practice and miss their target. Nothing God does, nor plans is sin. His work is anything but sinful.
Another consequence of the Fall, was the innate hatred of man towards the Adversary. It is very common for the natural man (with the old sin nature), the soulish man, the unbeliever, to seek the opposite of what he innately identifies as Adversarial, and to substitute human good as a substitute for evil, thinking this is adequate for recognition by God.
Our fallen state, though, isn't adequate to serve as perfectly just and perfectly righteous by Divine standards with impeccable Integrity. We lack holiness without what He Provides.
While a worldly system seeks to honor the promotion of good by Martin Luther King, Jr., it fails to discern worldly good from Divine Good. Instead, it promotes lack of discernment between the two.
In a fallen world, this lack of discernment naturally promotes a worldly system, which is inadequate for eternal reward.
“Imperfect”? If you’re going to call King an imperfect hero, you need to adopt the same terminology to describe every other leftwinger who shares those views.
MLK was a leftwing radical who called our troops war criminals. He said that the U.S. was the biggest purveyor of violence in the world. He supported reparations and redistribution of income.
He was no Christian, either. Aside from the fact of his documented participation in orgies, he denied the Virgin birth, the existence of hell and the Second Coming, and he believed Jesus “achieved” divine status through “moral struggle.”
So he called himself a Christian. So what? So does Nancy Pelosi. So does Obama.
It never ceases to amaze me how many conservatives have allowed themselves to be suckered into the mythology surrounding MLK.
Without a doubt early stages of althiemers were affecting the thought process of President Reagan when he made MLK’s birthday a federal holiday. He had previously said many times that there were a lot of great Americans that didn’t have their own holiday and he didn’t see any reason why King should be given one. The great senator Jesse Helms refused to go along with the ruse and said if King was such a great man why were his FBI files sealed for the next 50 years. Helms said King was a communist, trouble-maker and philanderer and that is exactly what the FBI records would reveal if opened. To me it is a national disgrace that we only have one federal holiday for a president and that being George Washington, but King now has this honor. One thing is certain if Jesse Helms had been president no way in hell King would have a federal holiday in his honor.
I was saying that tongue in cheek. This person is making up their own doctrines of righteousness which are good works is all you need. They will not render anyone worthy for eternal dwelling in the Kingdom of God. MLK did not believe in the deity of Yahshua nor the atonement of sinners through His shed blood. His life as a whoremonger disqualified MLK from being a Christian. 1st John says a lifestyle of sin shows you are of the Adversary and not of God. Isaiah says all our righteousness is but filthy rags. This poster obviously has his own church, with it’s own doctrines and he is the Preacher. Yep, I bet anything goes in his church long as you do good works.
He was also a big time war protestor and would give speeches saying how immoral the war was and no one should go “across the oceans to kill little brown people”.
Excellent post.
This is why the government is keeping his FBI files sealed until 2027.
Thank you.
Very well put. I too am old enough to remember what was being said about the so called Saint Martin Luther King back when he was alive. He was a communist, a serial adulterer, and anti-American sympathizer.
The merits of he Vietnam War can be argued forever, but still we were putting young American lives in harms way. To me it is still an incredible irony that we have a holiday named after someone who actually should be in prison for a lifetime for treason.
But what you wrote is correct. If you reject the Christian 'dogmas' that our Lord Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (God manifest in the flesh), died on the Cross for the sins of His people, rose again on the third day, and ascended into Heaven and now is King interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father; And He will come again 'And there will be given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, will serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed'. .. If one rejects these basic points - one is not a Christian.
Many have tried to turn our Lord Jesus into a philosopher, or a teacher -- these are not Christians.
Yes, clearly not as impressive as the Reverend Al’s divinity papers and theses, don’t you think?
sad to say, but 100% correct.
Same thing for leaders today.
