The people who are counted as Catholic, are those who are baptized Catholic, who the church and themselves know as Catholics.

Depending on the thread, and what their purpose is, some Catholics here declare once a Catholic, always a Catholic, that there is no escape, switching to a different denomination doesn’t matter.

"Depending on the thread, and what their purpose is, some Catholics here declare once a Catholic, always a Catholic"

UNTIL they do the backstroke across the Tiber.

THEN they are apostates, never catechized correctly, into sin, etc.

As long as they are CINOs, they appear to be gladly counted!

I have come to disbelieve the BILLION number that is bandied about here so frequently.

As an example:

Population of Belgium: 11.14 million
% Catholics in Belgium: 75%
Calculated number of Catholics in Belgium: 8,355,000
% Catholics in Belgium that attend services: 10% (article says it is actually 4-9%)
% Practicing Catholics in Belgium: 835,500
There is a far cry from counting 8 million Catholics vs. the more accurate number of 800 thousand Catholics.

for reference:

"Over 75% of Belgians are Roman Catholic.[2] However, as elsewhere in Europe, secularisation has hit hard in Belgium; Sunday church attendance has dropped well below 10% as per latest research such as from the "Centrum voor politicologie" of the Catholic University Leuven.[3] Although sources are quoting different figures between 4 and 9%, a church attendance of 6% in 2009 seems to be the most likely figure. Sources are quoting a drop in attendance of 0,5% yearly and in 1998 (the last year during which mass attendance was measured), attendance was just above 11%." Wiki Article

Now, conduct the same exercise around the world...

Thank you -— very interesting analysis.

"You clearly support the importation of tens of millions of more of those pro-abortion democrat voters"

Ansel12, this is an outright falsehood.

What do you hope to accomplish by trying to convince me that I said things that I did not say.

It's gotten tiresome. We're finished now.

LOL, so now you are suddenly anti-immigration, and are in agreement with us to stop importing these millions of largely pro-abortion, democrat voting, Catholic foreigners from Mexico and Latin America?

Great, I can put you in the stop immigration column?

If you ever spent time on the old Mormon threads, then you know how slippery, evasive, contradictory, and out right dishonest people can be about their church, as they promote the power of headquarters, and goals of power and control, even over America.

Perhaps, but that would be a false characterization of Mrs. Don-o. The posts of hers that I have read have been consistently up-front and factual. There is no percentage in anyone making false claims regarding growth or shrinkage in membership or denying the unfortunate political alliances of some members of the hierarchy, or the anti-life voting patterns of vast numbers of baptized Catholics. Anyone who does so in a misguided effort to “defend” the Church is at best guilty of fooling themselves, and at worst, lying. I wish it wasn’t true that the bishops support amnesty, and in certain cases favor out-and-out socialism, but it is what it is.

LOL, you saw Mrs. Don-o being described in that post.

Now you want to start posting to me to start a personal description of Mrs. Don-o, a personal discussion on Mrs. Don-o, surely you have other things to post on at FR.

Not the point of my post at all. In essence I agree with you re immigration. Why the baiting response?

Yeah, it was the point of your post, it wasn’t about immigration.

It's not "suddenly." The first time I protested against mass immigration was 1970.

You're welcome.

Fine, so you agree with me and want to end all this immigration and importing of democrat voters and multiculturalism.

I think that we have had this dance before, and you are not for ending immigration.

We’ll see how you finesse this.

Thank you, BlatherNaut.

Some people are in a baiting mood. I’ve had enough of it.

It grows tiresome, evasion and being slippery is not useful on a forum.
