Isn't it great to be truly American, my brothers?
This type of thing has happened many times in history.
Look up The Gnadenhutten massacre, Ohio.
Could easily happen again.
Keep you powder dry.
Seriously??? Henry Ford was vehemently anti-semitic, and spread his vile without restraint. Jews for banned from a variety of places prior to 1940 in the USA, just like blacks.
yes, and liberal Catholics will join right in with them.
True about the IHR site being a neo-Nazi site. It has embarrassed itself with hysterical, dishonest defamations against others for decades.
Coincidence?
Yes you hear of Skin Heads but frankly I've never met one and I've traveled quite a bit.
Even to this day, it is fairly common in Europe.
BTW, I am not Jewish but occasionally I wish I was.
I do have many Jewish friends and I spend my time with them being a friend.
>>Grosss book is about as credible as Bill Ayers Dreams from my Father.<<
I’m sorry, the sad truth is that Poles hated Jews just as much as the Germans did.
Not just the Poles. In the Balkans, Ukraine & Belarus, local groups often acted as auxiliaries to the SS, rounding up Jews to be murdered or taking it upon themselves to do the killing. The Nazis found plenty of help in perpetuating the holocaust.

Yes. And the Ukrainians, the Lithuanians and the Romanians.
I have read Goldhagen’s book in which he argued that anti-semitism was a specific German thing. He couldn’t be more wrong. All of Europe despised the Jews — and most of them still do today. Except that now they don’t call it “hating Jews”; they call it “opposition to the apartheid state of Israel.”
Did I deny the existence of antisemitism among Poles? The flaming headline of this thread was not about Poles but about Catholics.
Even Gross does not reduce the pogrom to Catholicism. But FR and Drudge do.
If the post had sought to raise questions for Polish national memory, which is what Gross’s book did, I’d have no problem.
Something terrible happened that day. Polish soul-searching is appropriate.
But even Gross does not claim that he knows exactly what happened and Gross explicitly denies that he claims to have written a historical account. And Gross’s account is disputed, by (notoriously anti-semitic) National Holocaust Nuseum historians. Notoriously anti-semitic journals pointed out problems in his work.
But leave it to FR to reduce even Gross’s laudable question-raising to sheer, naked Catholic-bashing.
But then, FR is a notoriously anti-Catholic site.
I will never return to it.

This isn’t about Catholics. It’s about Poles, Germans, Jews and the rest of Europe.
I’ve never thought about it before, but I would bet there were just as many Protestant Jew-haters as Catholic Jew-haters. Martin Luther, the first Protestant, comes to mind.
I thought this was one of the funniest things I had read on FR. Then I realized you weren't kidding.
Thanks for the ping!
A lot of WWII documentaries have pointed out that the Nazis had plenty of local support for killing or rounding up Jews in all but a few countries. IIRC, every country East of Germany had a long history of periodically killing Jews.
I guess calling it a "secret" is an attempt to pump up interest among the uneducated or something because there's been a lot written about pogroms all over Europe and various Church officials trying to stop them.
The only thing unique about Germany was how universal antisemitism was and how long there had been widespread support for ridding Germany of all Jews.
Why do socialists and communists hate Jews?
Promise?
It takes awhile for many Jews to trust you enough to open up about their feelings regarding Christians.
Most Jews I work with are atheist and are very suspicious of motives when talking religion.
You have to listen and be interested in their lives.
Many have tragic stories about their parents in the war.
Most have family living in Israel and they worry about that a great deal.
Just like the ‘29 crash left a permanent mark on our parents and grandparents, WWII left one on our Jewish friends that can’t be easily removed.
As I tell others, once you have visited Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, you are never quite the same ever again.
Shalom
By your logic, since millions more Christians than Jews were killed in the war I guess Christians are justified in not trusting Jews.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
