I very much doubt that Orthodox Christians will be converting to Catholicism any time soon. They’re happy where they are.

I do too. But this is the thinking of a certain segment of traditional Catholics.

Personally I don’t think a reunion, should it ever happen, would involve any side “becoming” a member of the other side. We can’t foresee how it will happen but it will happen some day.

The Eastern Church may be more true than the Roman.

The “evil empire” days seem so long ago.

Now we got the head of Russia preaching wisdom and the POTUS is a Muzzie Marxist.

Read the comments below by Vladimir Putin, who is constantly berated by Western glitterati (e.g., Madonna, Lady Gaga, Sir Elton John) for his stance on unnatural relations. The man speaks like a Christian, nay, like a Catholic (he is a self-professed Russian Orthodox Christian).

IMO he speaks nothing like a Christian. This is how a Christian leader of a country should speak:

President Yoweri Museveni has repented his sins and the sins of Uganda as a nation in a move aimed at establishing Uganda as a God-fearing nation. The President made this historic move at Mandela National stadium Namboole in the early morning of today (Tuesday) at 2:00am during national prayers for dedicating Uganda to God. "I denounce witchcraft and satanic practices. I repent on behalf of Uganda. We confess our sins. We repent of the sins of shedding innocent blood, corruption, bribery, sexual immorality, drunkenness, rebellion, insubordination, tribalism and sectarianism," Museveni repented amidst ululations from the Christians. The president dedicated Uganda to God to be his nation anchored on his principles and values.

The President, indicating that the next 50 years belong to the young generation, advised the young people to be God-fearing referring to the Biblical verse in Proverbs 9:10 which says, "The fear of God is beginning of wisdom."....The prayers were organized by Uganda Jubilee Network, an association of Anglican, evangelical and Pentecostal churches....

....Rev. Simon Peter Emiau said no matter how many times Ugandans pray, God will not intervene in the affairs of our country without fulfilling the conditions in 2chronicles 7:14 of repenting and turning away from wicked ways. Calling upon church leaders and Christians to repent, Apostle Charles Tumwine attributed the current high level of immorality in the country to the wickedness/darkness in the church arguing that what happens in a nation is usually a replica of the state of the church.

Let's assume Putin is being faithful to Orthodox beliefs for a second. Considering how Orthodox Christians have voted here in the USA, I'm not convinced that this is anything to brag about.
"In the East there is someone that causes the western liberal's maniacal laughter to stop. Vladimir Putin. He has real world power, which causes the liberal media to fearfully ignore or warp his image. Like a good Christian King he leads a nation to Christ. Deep down in their evil souls they shriek like devils because they know Christ is true God and true power that they cannot defeat. They thought the Bolshevik revolution destroyed Holy Mother Russia. Christ cannot be defeated and his servant Putin has welcomed Christ and His church."

Keep in mind this is the same guy who divorced his wife on the premise that they weren’t married in church. He’s also the same guy who lamented the fall of the Soviet Union and is currently trying to rehabilitate Stalin. He’s also currently working on his own cult of personality in Russia to cement his own tyranny.

Vladimir Putin's religion and political views

The religion and political views of Vladimir Putin

Religion

Putin began as an atheist, but a car accident and a house fire caused him to question his views and now he is a devout member of the Russian Orthodox Church. Some argue he is ushering in a new theocratic government in Russia.

Political Views

Putin's decades-long political career in Russia has endured the collapse of the Soviet Union and the transition of Russia into free market enterprise and democracy. He has many critics and at times seems antagonistic toward the West.

Vladimir Putin was born and raised in Leningrad, U.S.S.R., now known as St. Petersburg, Russia.

Putin had, in classic Soviet fashion, a secular upbringing. His father was a “model Communist” and a “militant atheist,” though his mother was a devout Eastern Orthodox Christian1 and she had young Putin secretly baptized into that church.2

It was merely symbolic, however, as Putin went through the bulk of his adult life–rising through the ranks of the KGB and the Soviet Communist Party–conforming to Soviet secular convention.

It wasn’t until the double-whammy of 1) his wife’s car accident in 1993 and 2) a life-threatening house fire in 1996 that Putin began questioning his atheism. During a vulnerable moment before Putin departed for a diplomatic trip to Israel, his mother gave him a baptismal cross. He said of the occasion:

I did as she said and then put the cross around my neck. I have never taken it off since.1

Now, Putin has become a bit of a zealot. He seems to want to reestablish a pre-Soviet combination of church and state, saying:

First and foremost we should be governed by common sense. But common sense should be based on moral principles first. And it is not possible today to have morality separated from religious values.3

Furthermore, Putin has proposed compulsory religion and ethics classes for Russian students.4

There are many reports of collusion between the Russian Orthodox clergy and the Russian government, with each of them fighting the other’s battles for them. The most recent example to receive worldwide attention was the Pussy Riot debacle, in which the girl-punk band sang at a church in Moscow: “Mother of God, Blessed Virgin, drive out Putin.”5 Both the church and the government were outraged and the band was sentenced to two years of prison labor.5

The western world erupted in outrage and, recalling Soviet oppression of artists and intellectuals, condemned the sentence as theocratic totalitarianism. Even the Obama administration weighed in, saying:

While we understand the group’s behavior was offensive for some, we have concerns about the way these young women were treated by the Russian judicial system.6

Still, Putin’s religiosity is a blessing to some in the international community. The Eastern Orthodox Church has asked him to protect Christians worldwide, and he has agreed. Russia’s controversial support of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria is due to Putin’s concern that the Christian minority in that country will be persecuted if Assad is toppled.7

Much remains to be seen, as Putin discovers his newfound devotion to God and Russia still grapples with its religious freedom.

Not a Czar, but close.

Putin has been (so far) three times the Russian President and twice the Russian Prime Minister. It’s a repetitive grab for power that has many in the West speculating that, not only is Putin becoming something like the old Russian Czars,8 but that Russia itself is reverting back to its totalitarian ways.9

It all began when Putin, after graduating from Liningrad State University, became an intelligence officer for the KGB. He spent most of his KGB career in East Germany and, when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1989, he retired.10 So, we could safely say that Putin was an enthusiastic communist–even though his education was in free market economics.3 And, it could be argued, that business and enterprise has been greatly encouraged under his leadership.11

Putin wishes to lead Russia out of its old ways and integrate it into the West–for the most part–though he exudes that nationalistic Russian pride:

We are a major European nation, we have always been an integral part of Europe and share all its values and the ideals of freedom and democracy. But we will carry out this process ourselves, taking into account all our specific characteristics, and do not intend to report to anyone on the progress we make.12

But Russia is still in transition, and at times, Putin is at odds with the West, particularly in foreign policy. He has positioned Russia en face de the U.S. and the E.U. in terms of North Korea8 and Syria.7

And he struggles with organized crime in his country,3 though many suspect corruption is involved, up to the highest levels of Russian politics.13

These are but a few of the issues and a small slice of the ideology surrounding Vladimir Putin. His nearly 40 year career in Russian politics covers a lot of ground. Check out his Wikipedia page for the beginnings of a comprehensive coverage of Putins’s politics.

Sounds exactly like many of the founders of the USA in that one.

And keep in mind this is the same guy who was a KGB Lieutenant Colonel who was trained at one time by a Godless and brutal police state. This is a guy who'd step over his own mother.

I can't believe I spent 20 years in the Air Force, opposing communism, only to see it win here, without a shot being fired. It pains me, to feel like I have more respect for the Russian, than for the POTUS.

Putin was the most pro-American leader in Russia’s history starting his first term. It’s a fact.

“This is a guy who’d step over his own mother”

Actually, he sounds like a man who very much loved his mother. He did what she said to do, and put the cross she gave him around his neck and wears it to this day. Not exactly a mother hater.

That description better fits Barky, not Pooty.

When Stalin’s mummy is disinterred & moved back into the Lenin mausoleum where it was originally laid in 1953, we’ll know something is really up in Muscovyland.
