ISA 53:1 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
ISA 53:2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground;
He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. ISA 53:3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Any one of these cardinal guys fitting this description?

Thank-you for the pictures. I had slept while that opening mass took place. Not easy as you get older to deal with the change of the time, it takes up to 2 days to get used to the change.
May this conclave bear great fruit. Amen.

Do not forget what Jesus said to Peter after Jesus rose from the dead, towards the end of John’s Gospel to tend to His sheeps and lambs.

Are all the candidates for Pope within the conclave? Or can they choose someone outside of it?

They’re not electing a Messiah — that office is filled — just a Pope.

Technically, any male Catholic is eligible. But it’s been about 700 years since a non-Cardinal was elected.

Well, it’s been 600 years since a pope quit, so all bets are off.
I’m rootin’ for Joel Osteen!

But I think he is a write-in candidate.

Jesus called Peter, the first Pope to take care of His lambs and sheep.

I hadn’t heard that Joel Osteen had converted to Catholicism. When did this happen?

Jesus called Peter, the first Pope to take care of His lambs and sheep.
And feed them.

Still, let’s not get carried away. He’s just a pope.

None of them claim to be God, nor are they electing a god. They’re just men and it’s wrong of you to imply that Catholics look at any of them...the Pope included...as anything more than men.

That was also why on the day Christ rose, John let Peter in FIRST to see the empty tomb not only because of what Peter did by denying Jesus 3 times but in respect for the fact that Peter was head apostle.
