And unlike the early church, Rome also has their inexcusable religious violence, as did early Protestantism which had much to unlearn from her. But when men exalt their own church over the Scriptures then the bodies as well as the souls of good men and women are in peril.
And yet there are ‘regular’ Christians who tithe simply because the bible says they should.
I’m not a Mormon, so I’ve really no idea, but I would imagine there are Mormons who tithe because they think it is the right thing to do and/or because it is the cost for being in a community they value. I’ve no idea how many true true believers there are among them.
Charging those who oppose evil with being hateful is a duplicitous liberal tactic, as by the same standard they aee hateful towards those they call hateful.
And while technically such responses express hate, the ad hominem charge of being hateful infers the object is driven by a hateful spirit, as in opposing homosexual relations, versus hating something out of love for what is right and good.
But they are similar in essence, as both exalt their church as the supreme authority, each ascribing assured veracity to their head, while also making another source of revelation supplementary to Scripture and equal to it, and out of which they propagate traditions that are not derived from it.
Actually, FR has seen many many extremely extensive Catholics versus evangelical threads, usually as a response to regular promotions of the former.
Hide yo wife!!!
Hide yo kids!!!
OK, I know some Christians support tithing, too. The issue for Mormonism isn’t only tithing.
It’s what happens if you don’t tithe in the Mormon church.
No different than any other organized religious institute, just using a different tactic.
Does it matter if they are telling big lies to get money or telling little lies to get money?
This is to separate the sheep from the goats, we do not know who Gods people are but he knows.
After the Churches are destroyed people will have to come to God on their own because then Christ will be the only mediator.
Hate is not non productive. Hate, like any emotion, can be a motivating force, and in this case, an extremely powerful one. When soldiers go to war, they fight harder if they hate the enemy. A District Attorney will work harder at his job if he hates crime. Some people, hating that they have been belittled or ridiculed, have been motivated to achieve true greatness. So, it most certainly can be very productive, even if many times, it is pointless.
I hate Satan, and his schemes, so I struggle against them more vigorously. Is that mean and negative?
#1 The “heart” of mormonism is the atonement of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
#2 the history of religion is a history of men damning others to hell for believing diffrently, quite often, while killing them.
IMHO your statements are innocent of both a knowledge of history, and the actual teachings of my religion. This is an old argument between you and I, you seem to insist you know what my religion believes, and that I don’t.
There comes a point in an argument like this when the other side makes you laugh. This is funny.
Delph
absolutely
In my opinion, expressions of hate cheapen FR, and that bothers me.
Really? So, if I say that I hate communism, does that cheapen FR? I really can’t understand this. It seems like a “Star Wars” philosophy, where hate, even righteous hate, leads to the “dark side”. It makes for nice fairy tales, but the world I live in is more complex than that.
Not individually, but when someone makes those sentiments obvious, time after time, I think it does.
You have to understand stuart—he believes in nothing, so is open to everything. As a result, he has a difficult time recognizing what is right and what is not.
The real question is then why do you continue to spout it, if it bothers you so, as you stated in post 131.
Wait for it...
please show me in detail (date, thread #) where I have spouted hate?
Thanks, I think :-)
There was a time that I’d feel a need to respond to every attack on my religion. During this election cycle, Mormons were routinely barred from this forum, anti-Mormons could and would say whatever they wanted with no rebut from us. I was pleasantly suprised as Catholics, Born Agains, people from all religions stepped up and cried foul. Yes, many americans chose socialism over capitalism. Yes, some people chose what I believe to be evil. Yes the presstitutes stole this election by refusing to report the news (Bengazi, Fast and Furious, government corruption, the economy...)
IMHO, the only good thing that came out of Mitt Romeny running was that people actually saw what the opponents of Mormonism look like and didn’t like them... Continuing to play the “ugly religionist” just makes them funny now.
Be well, God will be God no matter what any man says or does...

When you show me (us) all these heat filled posts you keep talking about.
So far you have been the only one harping on this mythical hate.
Thanks for the bump!
I’ve alredy addressed that. You’ll just have to give the same type of answer I did, but I guess you didn’t think of that.
I have no desire to play show me yours and I’ll show you mine...see, sophomoric and cheap.
