"Jesus often those not to pursue people who misunderstood what He had to say."

That is bacause His message was not revised or reformed to conform to the modern sensibilities or fashions of His day.

The “catholic church” was founded in the 4th century, by pharisees that wanted to reclaim their power and influence. That is why catholicism is a nearly exact image of pharisaical Judaism, including the departure from scripture with man made traditions, and the thuggery of the false priesthood.

I must say this is the first time I have read these exact words. And this explanation would explain why all the things Jesus said WRITTEN down by Matthew would be so offensive and the legitimacy of Matthew's WRITINGS are called into question.

God said he does not change, then why has the Catholic Church changed its position many many times?

The Church has not changed its position on doctrine and morals. Never will. They don't change.
The Protestant churches have obviously changed 40,000 times on their interpretation of the Bible. Else, why would there be so many different ones? There is STILL only ONE Catholic Church (Yes, the Orthodox Churches are Catholic too.), after 2000 years, with the same doctrine and moral teachings of 2000 year ago.

Ask your questions on Catholic.com. They can answer your questions chapter and verse. I'm not a doctor of the Church and don't have all the answers, chapter and verse. They do there.

If you just want to nitpick at me, then, GO AWAY.

If you beleive that Christ died for you on the Cross and you accept that gift of salvation, then you are saved. Don’t get cute.

Maybe read the book ‘Left to Tell’ wow. That book woke me up to love and forgiveness. The author lived thru rowanda genocide by praying the rosary. Oh just read it anyway. Its very special. And the catholic church had nothing to do with the horrors of rawanda.

True...so I'm not sure why you asked the question in the first place.

Yes, in Matthew’s gospel, Christ denounced every practice of the catholic church as he denounced the Pharisees.

The two are truly one and the same.

"True...so I'm not sure why you asked the question in the first place."

Because the message should not have changed 1500 years later either.

I am talking about the adding of so many traditions, that are not found in the Bible. The banning of reading the Bible by the lay, requiring the Mass in Latin, Purgatory, Papal infalibility. These have all been added to the Church through the ages.

Because the message should not have changed 1500 years later either.

The point is you assumed the disciples who turned away were not mistaken in their understanding since Christ walked away from them. Since Jesus often walked away from those who misunderstood it appears they could have as well.

If you think I will come back to the Catholic Church, I won't. I know I am right where God wants me. I am no longer that person who tried to play the rules and tradition games with God or the church. I don't have to. God set me free from the bondage I was in; thinking I had to earn my salvation, when Jesus already did it.

If I had to work to earn God's grace or if I depended on a church for it, WHY did Jesus have to die at all? I hope you are in a good Catholic church where you grow in God's word and find peace in Him.

You did not answer my question. Why do the rich get out of purgatory sooner because they can afford the masses, novenas and candles lit? I know the answer, but maybe you can think about that. I say that in love and respect, not meaning to sound judgemental.

Also, as to your first question, to all. God's word is inspired. Men put your book together and men put my book together. God inspired. Good night all!

May I suggest you prepare a rebuttal of The 95 Thesies rather than setting up carefully worded straw-man arguments.

Is that a subtle hint that i should learn to write a bit more succinctly in the future?     :-)     If it is, point taken.

However, while Herr Luther had some good, legitimate complaints about some serious clerical abuses (not Catholic Church teachings) that needed cleaning up, he also was the guy who (on his own whim) got rid of a number of books in the Old Testament that was used in the Holy Land during the time of Jesus, and even tried to get rid of the Book of James, and several other New Testament books as well. What do you think about that?

He subtracted from the written Word of God, and wanted to subtract even more from it.

Strange thing of this rejection of Matthew's Gospel is that it sure did not come from Peter. So somebody else down the line of cutting new keys came up with the attempt to discredit Matthew's WRITINGS....

Recently there was another Freeper who attempted to question the legitimacy of Matthew, but, I never thought the attempt was to discredit Christ's own exhortations. WOW I am still shaking my head over how some things get exposed.

I left an abusive marriage and went to a shelter run by the church I found a book called apologetics and it literally destroyed ever argument I ever had against the church I soon became a revert

If you wish to know Peter’s view, read Luke’s gospel. Luke was not a first hand witness to Christ’s teachings and practices, he listened to Peter.

I like how you quote Matthew 6, but omit "do not use vain repititions as the heathen do" The Our Father Prayer is not a prayer that we have to say. Christ said when you pray, pray like this... Christ meant that in prayer we are to give glory to God, seek God's will, ask for our daily needs, and seek forgivness.

If you repeate a Psalm over and over thinking God will like you better because you said it 50 times instead of once, then yes that is a vain repitition.

You concept of prayer bears no resemblence whatsoever to mine. I do not pray to make God like me better.

I also never said you have to say the "Our Father". However, do you think it is wrong to say it?

I do not use vain repetition in my prayers either, and I would not presume to claim that I can tell what is in the mind or heart of anyone else who is praying. I hope that you wouldn't either.

All of the 'elected' writers fit together to tell us as best in what we can comprehend the Plan of the Heavenly Father. Christ said in Mark 13 before one WORD of the so called New Testament was ever penned ... verse 23

"But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things,"

Then Christ quotes Isaiah 13:10.

Where did I say to make God better? I said to give glory to God and to seek what we need, be it guidance, health, wisdom etc.

Did you write all of this yourself? What an amazing work. Really a splendid job of encapsulating some of the most important points. Thanks so much!
