It is as much or more a curse than it is a blessing. It means I feel their sorrow and physical pains too. The only way to protect from the pain is to always focus on an outward flowing of Love. It’s a challenge.

A spring flowing clean water outward does not allow dirty water to flow in.

“”in the town next to mine, there is the main intersection that has an Anglican Church, a Baptist Church, a Presbyterian Church and i believe an Assembly of God Church. all 4 at the same intersection, all 4 claiming to be Christian, all 4 with opposing doctrines from one another
What are their opposing doctrines???””

Years ago an elderly woman came to me and we were discussing religion. I asked her what religion she practiced. She replied, “I am Christian.”

I asked what she meant by that. She replied, “When I was young, my father was in the military. We moved a lot. and each time we moved, we went to what ever church was close to our home. After several moves and several churches, I went to my father, very confused. I said to him, “Each church I have attended has taught me a different religion. What do I believe?””

“Father replied, “Isn’t some of what they taught you the same?” Yes, I replied. He responded, “That is your religion, the rest is man made.!””

There is much wisdom in her story.

“The Buddha was conceived into the womb of his mother, Mayadevi (by taking the form of a White Elephant descending from Tushita and entering the womb immaculately).”

Is it possible that they were referring to the size of his soul? Not the physical manifestations.

Sola scriptura is correct-as the Holy Spirit (God Himself) who never contradicts Himself will lead the person reading to either believe or reject against God’s will Christ. I certainly do ~not~ need the Catholic Church to tell me what the plain words of the Gospel says!~

Buddhism is far different than you or your friends expect.

Buddha never claimed to be a God, nor is Buddhism claiming to be a religion. Virtually every Buddhist teacher I ever met taught knowledge and techniques. They then said, “Take what you have been given and apply it to your chosen path.”

Not according to the writings. For context go to the link I provided and read what they say. There are many sources with the same general story. BTW, the elephant wasn’t physical until it ‘created’ Buddha in the womb.

“Jesus is not a parable.”

Never said he was. However he taught using parables so the ignorant would not gain the power of the knowledge. Let those who have ears hear.... Don’t give your pearls to the swine, lest they turn on you...

Definition of RELIGION 1 a : the state of a religious b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance 2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices 3: archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness 4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith From the link I provided previously - "When the Buddha was teaching in the paradise of Tushita, which is a realm where the devas (gods) reside and also a sambhogakaya realm, the sound of his previous motivation reminded him that it was necessary to take birth in our world and teach the dharma. No, he used parables so the people would gain knowledge. He knew his audience, down to the hairs on their head.

To apply the same level of understanding to Jesus’ teachings, Why did he say “Eat of my flesh and Drink my blood” when referring to communion?

Be careful judging others beliefs as they can do the same to ours. This has led to many wars.

the well-documented fact that Martin Luther was extremely intolerant toward Jewish people. Luther’s cold statements about Jews were eerily connected to the rise of anti-Semitism in Germany prior to WWII.

Yep, antisemitism just fell down out of the sky with the advent of Martin Luther. No one had ever heard of it before then; pogroms were a completely new thing. /s

Ridiculous.

” Luther’s cold statements about Jews were eerily connected to the rise of anti-Semitism in Germany prior to WWII.”

I read an excellent book on Hitler. It included statements by his room mate in Vienna in 1906 when Hitler worked as a post card painter. He was quite an artist.

Hitler’s room mate took him on a tour of Vienna when he arrived and showed him the sex industry that was run by the Jews. Hitler was very upset and joined a group formed by the mayor of Vienna against the Jews and sex industry called the “Christian Socialist Movement.”

This was about the same time that Freud, who also lived in Vienna and was obsessed with sex, wrote his book “Leonardo da Vinci, A Memory of His Childhood.” It consists of a psychoanalytic study of da Vinci’s life based on his paintings.

Freud provides a psychoanalytical interpretation of da Vinci’s The Virgin and Child with St. Anne. According to Freud, the Virgin’s garment reveals a vulture when viewed sideways. Freud claimed that this was a manifestation of a “passive homosexual” childhood fantasy that Leonardo wrote about in the Codex Atlanticus, in which he recounts being attacked as an infant in his crib by the tail of a vulture. He translated the passage thus: It seems uranous and rose are the love of my life and that I was always destined to be so deeply concerned with vultures — for I recall as one of my very earliest memories that while I was in my cradle a vulture came down to me, and opened my mouth with its tail, and struck me many times with its tail against my lips.

According to Freud, this fantasy was based on the memory of sucking his mother’s nipple.

Hitler, being an avid reader and an artist, living in the same City of Vienna surely read this famous book by Freud and was offended.

This was Hitler’s formation of his hatred for Jews.

Tidbit of trivia....

To apply the same level of understanding would be to discuss the conception of Jesus Christ.

Would you prefer people remain ignorant of the origins of other religions?

There have been a lot of reasons for wars, mostly because of imperfect man.

“There have been a lot of reasons for wars, mostly because of imperfect man.”

Exactly! Teaching the path to perfection is the purpose of religion.

Purgatory is a theological opinion rooted in scripture.

Bunk...

You guys don't even know what the gates of Hell are and that they were thrown wide open when the scriptures clearly tell you...

Your purgatory is decimated...

Protestant Bible reading is pure eisegesis, period.
Everything you throw our way is man-made twisting of the scriptures.
You twist the scriptures to make it conform to your notion of Sola Scriptura. Not the other way around.

HaHaHa...John tells us (and You) in simple, plain scripture that what he wrote was show us that we have life in the name of Jesus...Eternal life...

That's without the trappings of your man made bondage to your religion...

Sorry, but there isn't any scripture there to twist...There's no wiggle room...You either believe John or you don't...

“Exactly! Teaching the path to perfection is the purpose of religion.”

Its the purpose of some religions. Not all religions are the same.

The word “Catholic” simply means “Universal.”

Show me where Jesus used the word “Bible”.
