2 Peter 3:16
There has to be a balance. Western Christianity has totally distorted this balance.
Your replies strike me as being rather evasive, rzman21. Accusing me of twisting the words of scripture when I’d neither cited nor referenced any is wrong.
“Saying you believe isnt enough. It has to be backed up with deeds that fulfill your faith”
Salvation by deeds = gift from God?
Romans 10:4:
Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
“It has to be backed up with deeds that fulfill your faith”
Galatians 2:21:
do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Are you Eastern Orthodox, or just a Eastern RC?
Eastern Catholic, but not Roman.
Do you understand the Jewish law?
After all, their leaders become gods and rule on different planets. Whaaaaat?? Where does it say in the old or new Testament, the Magesterium or Apostolic Tradition that mere men (Mormons disregard the possibility of goddesses, I guess.) can become divine??
Just plain weird.
Thanks. No wonder you are up late (my time). Time for me to hit the sack.
Feeling’s mutual. Mormonism and Fundamentalism are equally erroneous.
Even James, at the counsel of Jerusalem, accepted Paul’s teaching that salvation is by faith alone. James did not impose the law on the Christian gentiles.
Romans 3:28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 2:16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
Galatians 3:24 So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
Why are you writing to me about eternal security? Isnt it rather stupid to spend that much time railing on about a subject to me that I have never said was true for all who claim to be Christian? Ive noticed often that you seem not to have read posts you respond to. Assumptions are a weak base for such a diatribe. I would suggest you go spend your time with like minded Catholics. Youre wasting precious time with anyone who actually reads and understands scripture with the help of the Spirit of God guiding them.
Another way to look at this heresy of a works based salvation is how it affects the sovereignty of God. In this heresy God is made a debtor. If you do enough good works God owes you salvation. Likewise, the sacramental system of infused righteousness follows from this emasculated view of God's sovereignty and empowered works based righteousness.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the worldour faith.
1 John 5:3-4
For it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.
Romans 2:13
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
Revelation 20:13
If you have evil works and your faith is nothing other than legalism, it is meaningless and empty in the eyes of God.
good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20So then, you will know them by their fruits.
21Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? 23And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.
Matthew 7:17-22
“Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
Mark 8:33

Depends on who your faith is in.. Catholics have faith in Rome, and faith in themselves to be good enough and do enough to be saved.. Sad that they will never know in this life ... and when they do..it will be too late to change it
Jesus discusses what he expects of those who believe in him:
The Judgment
31But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.
34Then the King will say to those on His right, Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. 37Then the righteous will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? 40The King will answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.
41Then He will also say to those on His left, Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; 42for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; 43I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me. 44Then they themselves also will answer, Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You? 45Then He will answer them, Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me. 46These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Matthew 25:31-46
