Christians handing the Muslims ass-whoopins at the Battle of Tours (October 10, 732) and the Siege of Vienna in 1529 made the Muslims realize there were stronger people on the face of the Earth, which they couldn’t handle. During Europe’s later age of colonialism, and the early American defeat of Islamists at the shores of Tripoli (ca. 1801–5), and more recently (e.g., Israel’s defeat of every neighbor), Muslim nations have been defeated at every turn (e.g., Gulf Wars I and II).

But it’s more than that: The Koran is predicated on Muslim “success” at conquering other peoples. So, of course they’ll throw tantrums if they can’t get their way.
