Check out the posts from 300 to 350. This has been going on nearly the entire thread. Seriously, there is no reason for hope on these open threads.

There’s tons to be said for taking Scripture at face value.

PERIOD.

The PROCLAIMER effort of putting Scripture translated into heretofore untranslated languages . . . wind-up MP3 players . . . given

to “the man of peace” of the tribe . . . on condition that he plays about 30 min per week and 30 min of discussion . . .

Very Biblical churches spontaneously spring up . . . operating rather like Acts 2.

PRAISE GOD!

There certainly is.In fact, when I first started reading the Word I wasn't aware there was any other way.

Well.., if we know a little of early church history, then we know that there was plenty of division and “heresy” before Rome became the vast autocratic org that it became, and unScripturally using the sword of men to defeat her theological enemies.

But what Rome does is offer a standard by which to judge truth by, yet in so doing it becomes like cults who effectively exalt a man or an office above the assuredly infallible Scriptures, but attributing assured infallibility to men or office. For according to their interpretation only their interpretation is right. And any single denomination could claim as much, and thus also define history accordingly. Consider what i say.

Now God could have always raised up a Moses (most meek man) whose authority was so supernatural attested to that there was little question that what he said as from God was indeed so, and Divine attestation is part of establishing truth, and the apostles had power; But not only did Moses’ words become the authority that was used to judged and establish further revelation, but the Lord commends those who (with right heart) sought to ascertain the veracity of apostolic teaching thereby.

And i would dare say that it is evangelical gospel that historically has overall most evidenced the most degree of the scriptural transformative power of God. But this does not excuse the divisional nature of Protestantism, yet it can be shown that RC’s have a freedom like unto SS type churches, except their religious life is more church based versus a scripture centered relationship with Christ, this being how the spiritual life of most Evangelicals began.

God provides enough grace to know the truth but its qualities and effects, to those who truly want Him, but not in such a way that men cannot rational it away, nor by making men become as God, warranting implicit trust, as Rome’s AIM does.

Sorry if this sound disjointed. Its late.

I think that the last 50 or so posts on this thread have not been a credit to any who bears the name Christian.

While that is, obviously, a bias statement; Christians don't look for affirmation from man much to the chagrin of those of a different faith.

Is it honest to minimize the divisions among protestants?

Is it honest to exaggerate the the divisions among protestants?

30,000 denominations????

Really?

Please do not post to me when you have complaints about RCs.

Then are you going to stop posting to us when you have complaints against non-Catholics?

Or are you going to apply a double standard of expected behavior?

Is this as absurd as the idea that after 1500 years, a single monk stumbled over the True Faith based on his reading of Scripture?

No. Because all the rest of those who tried to get the RCC back on track before them were labeled *heretics* and strong armed out of the church.

I may be castigated for my YOIPOS but after all it is my backside in a cosmic sling.

Exactly.

Some seem to forget that part.

You have to be brainwashed early on into thinking that Scripture doesn't mean what it says but that someone else knows what it really means and is the only one who can tell you that.

Isn’t that a sign of a cult? I could have sworn that I read that somewhere....

Good post, metmom.

a single monk

RS - all God needs is ONE faithful servant to fulfill His will like Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Paul, Esther, Mary, David, etc, etc. We all have a destiny to fulfill; unfortunately, not everyone does.

Or rather, slaughtered mercilessly, by the hundreds of thousands...
