I just think its part an parcel of kill the messenger tactics.

I know...It's like the 3 Stooges have been resurrected...But now it's 4, or 5 or 6 Stooges...

They have 11 children and he is a tireless defender of the faith.

And his wife, evidently, is just plain tireless.

"And what exactly is the point of making statues in the first place? Especially statues of people who you don’t even know what they looked like? And why put them in churches and place candles to burn in front of them?"

Through out the entire 2000 years of Christianity the vast majority of of Christians were illiterate and impoverished. Imagery and tangible mnemonic have been crucial in educating and expressing worship. Artwork, icons, statues, candles, music, architecture and rosaries have all played a role. It was only with the the advent of the so-called "Reformers" that Christianity became so joyless, sterile, colorless, and humorless.

As we were taught last week on FR, “once a baptized RC, always a baptized RC. You can’t leave it.” lol. No matter how hard you try.

LOL! What control freak said that?

That sounds awful familiar especially since the baby has no choice in the matter of being baptized.

It sound like islam once you are born into it you can’t leave .

How closely related to the Apostles is Aquinas?

A good millennium away.

Exactly! And that's why he was forced to invent "hyperdulia" to explain the "apparent" worship of Mary.

So, a leader is not a leader unless an infallible Ecumenical Council of Protestant bickering cats agrees? Peter's position is what the Pope's role is now. Primus inter pares. A bishop is a bishop, sure. But there is now and always has been a primus.

Is it fun in Fantasy Land?

I think SVITW is not given to spite.

And this thread is pretty nasty. As you know, brother, we all need to ask if we are adding to the spite or mitigating it.

I see the Catholic church standard of proof hasn’t changed much.

I think you must have simply gotten the spelling wrong from the RC daffynitionary.

It is "POOF"

The elite power-mongering bureaucratic magicsterical meets sufficiently long that they all get tired of pontificating over the top of one another ad nauseum and so they decide to conclude with a new dogma and

!POOF!

A NEW dogma, doctrine, ritual, saint, personage, RELATIVE OF GAWD . . . etc. etc. etc.

is sprun upon the world and the cosmos.

A true fait a'ccompli.

YUP, "POOF" is the word.

It's a very hallowed, sacred word in the ALICE IN WONDERLAND SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY AND HISTORY MANGLING.

Well here's one. Patrick Madrid is a professional Catholic Answers Apologist. There is not an objective bone in his body and he is an expert debater who knows all the tricks of "blowing smoke".

Actually, this does not address any of his points. Rather, this is an ad hominem attack. A tactic used in debate when one has nothing of consequence or noteworthy to say and no way to refute what has been said by one's opponent.

Actually, I think it’s 2 or 3 DOZEN stooges.

They are evidently arranged in rabid cliques and tag-teams. They kind of come and go in smaller clusters according to the RED QUEEN’S edicts from the Alice in Wonderland School of Theology and History Mangling.

I already posted that I knew an eye witness; Fr. Robert (Bob) Curtis who was in attendance when Archbishop McGrath baptized Wayne.

But is he baptized if he doesn't know he was batpitzed???

I didn't think you were trying to be cryptic. I was just bemused.

I like Mother of the Incarnate Word -- but I have to say that right away I can fantasize Trinitarian and Christological controversies, as in, "So, you're saying the Logos was NOT God, despite john's clear yatta yatta."

Besides, darn it, I've already memorized the Hail Mary in English AND Latin. Jeesh.

Did I tell you, or was it somebody else, about the lectern/ambo at the Dominican House of Studies in DC? Over the Bible is Mary in the stage of gestation somewhere between "puh-reg-NANT!" and "oh. my. Gah!"

A wonderful image.

Saint Jerome does not say the books are not the word of God ever.He directly says they are the word of God.Not making them canon at the time means nothing at all

From Saint Jerome... DO YOU EXPECT ME TO EXPLAIN THE PURPOSES AND PLANS OF GOD? THE BOOK OF WISDOM GIVES AN ANSWER TO YOUR FOOLISH QUESTION: [Sir 3:21] "LOOK NOT INTO THINGS ABOVE THEE, AND SEARCH NOT THINGS TOO MIGHTY FOR THEE." AND ELSEWHERE,[5] "Make not thyself overwise, and argue not more than is fitting." And in the same place, "In wisdom and simplicity of heart seek God." You will perhaps deny the authority of this book;" "Jerome, "Against the Pelagians, NPNF2, VI:464-5"

Would you like to see Blessed Jerome writings on the Sacraments that is DIRECTLY from Scripture interpretations that drive a stake through pagan Protestantism?

"But what if they say there is?"

Like you and Calvin, I don't believe or care what they have to say.

There he goes again with the scatological references. If I cared to keep track of such things, this thread alone would find more than a few dozen. After all, it IS a preoccupation with such. I thought the Religion Forum was supposed to be free from such juvenile junk.

The question is moot since Wayne was alert at the time.
