It states in Luke 7:28 "For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a GREATER PROPHET than John the Baptist.."

Which is a good time to clarify that scripture should be judged with scripture, to get the WHOLE point. I think others were in Matthew, where Greater Prophet wasn't mentioned.

LOL, sorry - no sale. UFU cultists and the porn industry run together, everyone knows that.

LOL! Sorry, but he was quoting my words. And I showed you the context.

The more that is known, the more I wonder just WHAT Christ’s role is in HIS OWN DEATH FOR OUR SINS< AND RESURRECTION FOR OUR SALVATION, actually means to a Catholic. It is almost as if He is relegated to a secondary role.

I was told very recently by a life-long, well-catechized Roman Catholic that Jesus "opened the door to heaven for us". But, it is up to us to work our way into deserving heaven. That is, we must receive "grace" through the sacraments and through our good works, that we must abstain from sinning, and if we commit any "mortal" sin, we must go to confession and "do penance". Only then can we even have a "hope" of going to heaven.

My heart aches that so many have been blinded to the truth of the gospel - that Christ Jesus gave himself as a ransom for our sins, he died in our place, for us, and took upon himslef the punishment we deserved. He did far more than just open the gates of heaven. He is the ONLY way in.

Many are the flavors of the UFO cultists and other non Christian word warbles here.

And what does that mean, particularly?

Come one, come all, watch the virulent anti Catholic falsehoods get free rein:
The Papacy rose on the ruins of the Roman empire by claiming the name of Christ while occupying the thrones of the Caesars...making various political alliances by force and by deception..and further bloodshed to maintain it's power.
And much, much more. See Satan work his lies, unfettered by honor or shackled by truth.

Has the Vatican started issuing

NASTY PILLS with the wafer and wine?

Or is it with the “holy” water?

Or is it with the week’s delivery of white hankys?

I’m sure that lovely attitude is a great gift in child-rearing. Particularly when the kids get to be teens.

And I laughed, and do so again. Pool halls and porn palaces are not the places to find great theologians, nor is this thread a place to find truth or honesty.

Some people, Metmom, really have such vile mouths..I can hardly believe the stuff that flows here sometimes. It goes beyond passion for ones beliefs and no wonder those who might otherwise post...don’t. Sheesh. I don’t know how you tolerate it. You have more stamina in the face of this then I would!

Details, details....

Speaking of being Christ’s representatives on earth, I’m still trying to figure how the Inquisition reflects Christlikeness.

It appears that tradition could justify the torture and brutal murders of people who refused to capitulate to the Catholic church, but am coming up short on Scripture to justify it.

Sola Scriptura couldn’t justify it.

NONSENSE.

The point was . . . prophets were the top of the heap of all mortals. John was the top of the top of the heap.

Elementary for those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

"Jesus referred to the authority of Scripture ..."

You have only supported the validity of Scripture, but not the completeness of it.

Neither I nor the Catholic Church argues that 100% of Scripture is anything other than the revealed word of God, however there is nothing in Scripture to assert that Scripture represents 100% of the revealed word of God.

Quix...I have not seen it so bad here...whatever testimony some have for Christ completely goes out the window for some I’ve seen here. WOW! You’ve been on the threads much longer than I ..have you seen it this bad before?

NOT PORN lingo AT ALL.

Would never have remotely thought of such a connection.

It takes

RC’s to make that connection

repeatedly.

Not sure what THAT means.

I could probably use stretchy, mangled, trashed etc. Those words just don’t have the amusing aliteration sound in them.

Last I checked, the only one mentioning UFO stuff on this thread is . . .

you.

And that grossly inaccurately . . . BRAZENLY FALSELY.

I wonder how our Heavenly Father feels about THAT!

That sounds pretty much like everything I've ever heard from all the Catholics I know.

Of course, we're sure to hear that that is NOT what the Catholic church really teaches, so stop spreading those heretical lies about it.

Two problems....

One is that it's near impossible to tell what the Catholic church really believes because it contradicts itself so much.

And the other is, even when you find something that the Catholic church really teaches that is consistent to itself, you'll hardly find a practicing Catholic around that is familiar with it.

Perhaps the only reasonable thing is to place a larger percentage of the irrational rabid clique sorts on total ignore. It’s beginning to appear that they have a hard time holding 2 seconds worth of rational cogitations in play.

I’d sure be embarrassed if that was the best my team could produce.

Sheesh.

Actually, one of the boys I played pool with in my brilliantly youth went onto be a Roman priest, and has authored several books on your side of the fence... Hard telling where a great theologian comes from.

In the meantime, your accusation against Quix is misplaced. One who considers himself a man would apologize to him.
