“...what a heart warming story!”

Obvious and outright lies warm your heart? How odd.

"if the Gospel writers were all perfect in their writings, there would only be one Gospel; or else there would be four clones (or 60 or 80 clones) identically written.

They perfectly provide four different perspectives, so in no way are they imperfect. Scripture is also adequate and sufficient for us to live through faith in Him to perform His Plan.

YES. Works are part of salvation during the Kingdom Dispensation. Just as they were when Jesus Christ preached the Gospel of the Kingdom.

I do not agree with this statement. God deals with man in different ways depending on his covenants but I do not believe that, at any time, mankind's works or efforts merited eternal life. It has ALWAYS been by faith going back to the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve committed the very first sin and doomed the entire human race to a sinful nature. God gave them clothes made from animal skins to "cover" them. Blood was shed for the first time and was symbolic of the Messiah to come who's blood would be shed for the redemption of all mankind from the penalty of their sins. The "wages" of sin is death - even before the covenant of grace. The sacrifices on the altars were all a temporary covering until Christ's death and resurrection paid the penalty in full.

"Works" in the OT times were how God related to mankind - but they were never a substitute for the blood that makes an atonement for the soul (Lev.17:11). God's laws are now written in our hearts by the Holy Spirit when we accept the gift of eternal life through faith in Christ. We live by grace and we relate to God through grace.

Nothing against SVITW...I just thought I needed to clarify where I stand on that subject.

So neither of you thinks Jesus ever spoke literally?

Sure, but nobody hops from literal to figurative on a sentence by sentence basis within one discourse.

Is this literal or figurative and how do you determine? John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

What about this passage?

John 6: 43-51

Do we take this one literally or not and why? 43"Stop grumbling among yourselves," Jesus answered. 44"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

What about this one? Literal or not and why? 45It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.

This one? literal or not and why? 46No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.

What about this one? Literal or not and why? 47I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.

What about this one? Literal or not and why? 48I am the bread of life.

What about this one? Literal or not and why? 49Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. 50But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.

What about this one? Literal or not and why? 51I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

I cannot speak to your religious ministries, beliefs or priorities. I can only speak to the Religion Forum guidelines.

You stay within the guidelines though you push the envelope on certain evidently "hot button" issues. And you have been known to go too far, but you always comply when I step in with a warning. I don't see where we have a problem.

How? The odd story claimed here has zero possibility of being true, the lies are many and manifest. That you embrace these lies demonstrates only your own ignorance of the truth. Reality does not change.

Thanks for your kind reply.

It is some comfort.

I prefer to try and . . . sigh . . . please everyone more than it appears.

And certainly you who work so hard in all our behalf.

Guess I’ll just have to keep praying and refining. . . . and being refined.

God be with you, Bro.

Oh, I don't think I explained myself well enough, then! By "works" being part of salvation during the Kingdom Dispensation, I am referring to those things Jesus Christ spoke of in the Great Commission and the Beatitudes. While God refuses works for salvation today, He required them under other dispensations. This was not because works in themselves could ever save, but because they were the necessary expression of faith when so required by God. It was their faith in those works God commanded them that was counted to them for righteousness. This is why James introduces faith without works is dead and takes up again the works of the law that Jesus and the 12 preached of. Hebrews through Revelation is working to get through the tribulation to endure to the end. Once again, a necessary expression of faith when so required by God.

Does this make it easier to understand what I was saying? or trying to say, anyway!!

Perhaps one of Mary’s worshipers would know how to take a white hanky and put a teaspoon of sugar in it and then tie a knot around it. Mother used to suggest that for comfort needs in such situations.

Am happy to daily lay out my understanding of TRUTH before Holy Spirit’s search-light every day.

The former priest at the head of this thread is wise beyond his years and solidly discerning and accurate in his narrative.

When all the rationalizations, obfuscations, denials, excuses, double standard slipperinesses, wailing, whining and dust in the air subsides . . .

THE TRUTH WILL STILL BE STANDING.

When the Vatican has crumbled to dust and ashes . . .

THE TRUTH WILL STILL BE STANDING.

DENIAL is not a good survival habit.

DENIAL is not a fruit of Holy Spirit.

That and the post it was referencing are both hard hitting but to be expected in a town square format.
