As Dr. Eckelburg once brilliantly commented: You DO realize that Christ was not preaching to LITERAL SHEEP?
After all, I continue to think and occasionally to say that I think many, if not most, non-Catholics are more than coincidentally similar to Muslims in their book waving and image smashing and 'take no prisoners' approach to what can only laughingly be called "debate."
lol. Wow. I'm merely agreeing to someone else's post, yet you specifically call me out by name.
If Roman Catholics don't like their church being viewed as liberal, then Roman Catholics, here and elsewhere, should not support their pope's ludicrous, anti-liberty, anti-U.S, sovereignty, "global authority" encyclical.
Fifty-four percent of Roman Catholics voted for Obama. Forty-five percent of Protestants voted for Obama.
You do the math as to who deserves the title of "liberal."
"Rabid clique" is simply their version of "Bush's fault."
“Which is why we can’t deal with just plain questions. Definitions differ. And what comes across as deceit may JUST be a misunderstanding of a definition of something, like salvation, or grace, or baptism,...”
Well said.
Where we differ is in the concept that one can never lose salvation.
That’s the difference. Catholics believe one can lose salvation. Free will is involved in this. We aren’t Calvinists who believe in predestination. We are beings created by God with intellect, will, memory and understanding. He gave us Free Will to chose.
I have a friend who is Free Will Baptist and she also believes that one can, through free will, lose one’s salvation, so this isn’t a singularly Catholic belief.
Besides, you need more help than a simple style coach could give you, Quix.
good points.
O.K. I’m over my losing it. Answered prayer is good;) We can talk IF we can agree to just what we believe by certain terms. If you ask me my meaning for something, I will give it to you, so that we can continue on. Otherwise, it becomes a roll throwing brawl. If you don’t ask, I will assume you know what I mean by salvation, grace, baptism, justification, sanctification, The Church the Body of Christ, The Gospel of Christ, etc.
lol. I forgot that. I probably stole the line from some place good (which, of course, is the real trick.) 8~)
I will NEVER forget that line! It was THE FUNNIEST thing! Thanks again for the laugh!!
“As Dr. Eckelburg once brilliantly commented: You DO realize that Christ was not preaching to LITERAL SHEEP?”
I’m not the believer in Sola Scriptura y’all are, and frankly, your metaphor about the pregnancy was nonsensical.
If you want to use metaphor, at least have it bear some comparison to the thing it is being compared against.
A material comparison against the numinous experience is just silly.
Not only do I have a very good idea about the correct answer, but I also have both a good idea of what is important about the question AND a very precise idea about how when I give people who want to control me and push me around an inch, they go on to take an ell.
Furthermore, I have such an idea of where my existential worth is and ought to be centered that people who try to tempt me by attacking my wit or my learning can get nowhere with me.
The testimony of this man is inspiring. He is indoctrinated from a very young age to place his faith in his church. However, the Holy Spirit guides him and even though he is in the ruling class of his church he turns to Scripture as his guide and becomes Born Again.
He walks away from his status and protection because his Faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior was more important. God bless him.
Have fun with your ridicule.
You are either saved or you aren't. You are either pregnant or you aren't.Fr. Corapi said he tells his Protestant/non-denom friends when they ask him if he's "saved," "Saved?! You're asking ME if I've been saved? I won't know if I've been saved until I'm looking Jesus in the eye."
Doh! That was actually part of Calvin's false gospel moreso than Luther's.
Fifty-four percent of Roman Catholics voted for Obama. Forty-five percent of Protestants voted for Obama.
You do the math as to who deserves the title of "liberal."
Your political interpretation of a religious leader's religious pronouncements have NOTHING to do with any Catholic's practice of their faith or how they vote.
I am not a liberal, and no proddie math is going to make me one. If the Religion Moderator can't come up with a guideline on this, then you have contaminated ALL of FR with your bigotry.
If Protestants had stuck with Luther they would have probably either returned to the Church within a few generations or been absorbed by the Orthodox. Luther would probably be horrified with the abomination that has sprung from sola scriptura.
That line wins the highly coveted, rarely awarded don-o
How about your analysis of posts # 875 and 877, speaking of “liberal.”
