I think I was riding in the disreputable wake of my my older siblings :-)

Sister Margaret now, she was angelic.

I would BET he’s a Christian today. It’s amazing the things we remember from our childhood, things that happened to other kids in our classes. And you’re right, some things are SHOCKED into our memory. For good or bad. ;)

You know, he’s probably laughing about it today - and no doubt a Christian!

Maybe married to the Kleenex girl and raising Christian kids :-)

I had 3 older than me. I don’t know what it was - but my first grade Sr.Concepta was truly the best. And my two schoolmates that are still my friends today - did not like her and afraid of her. She did reprimand one of them - and I think fear was instilled then and then no more likie of Sr. C. But we were all in agreement of our 2nd grade nun - YIKES - flying down the aisle with the veil flying in the wind. You stopped breathing at that point.

What satan meant for bad, God turned it for good is very likely in this case.

I was thinking - what jarred my memory of that! LOL! It was speaking of how we had to fast from the night before - before receiving Communion.

You know, what is a very good question is I wonder if The PRIEST remembered the incident. And the look of horror and devastation on that little boy.

It was the reverse for me. Sister Collette was our first grade teacher and green broke us all within a week.

I never got the dreaded circle on the blackboard treatment. She would draw a little circle that you had to press your nose against, and it was just high enough to have to be on tiptoes.

One boy spent a lot of time under her desk.

Pencil sharpening day was traumatic for some. We would stand in line by rows up front and QUIETLY sharpen our pencils with the manual crank sharpener. Woe to the child who had teeth marks on his pencil. She could spot them with her peripheral vision at 12 paces. The offending pencil would be held aloft and the child chastized publically while everyone else froze and a couple of kids still in line turned green or wet their pants.

You know, I don't want anyone to think I am bitter. Even quite satisfied "survivors" of catholic school during the 60's love to swap war stories. I think there are even books.

I don’t care who started it.
When one Freeper in a sidebar has been warned, all Freepers in the sidebar should consider themselves warned.

This is based on the principle that two wrongs do not make a right.

This was after we came back from the altar receiving. We were in our pews - the nun came from behind him in the other pew - and grabbed him by the neck/collar and pulled him out. We couldn’t turn around and watch because other nuns were there. Turning around in church was a no-no.

I don’t think he saw any of it - he just continued what he was doing.

He was the type of kid - he wouldn’t tell his parents - he would think he was the one at fault. Well, that was the catholic way.

The whole thing is disgraceful. Really. Is this a normal day in the life of a young RC?

You don’t care who started it but I told the Mad Dawg to STOP making it personal and he didn’t, Mad Dawg continued. And it is my post that was pulled and your warning post was addressed to me only and not Mad Dawg’s and his post still stands.

What am I to conclude from that??? Or anyone reading this thread, lurkers or posters, to conclude from that on this Religion Forum???

I like to know what was the protocol that was used here in this instance.

Thank you.

No I wouldn’t say it was a normal day just the threat of it was. Kids aren’t aware of when they are doing natural things, like getting something unstuck or whatever. So you never knew if you were doing something so terrible. Some other nun would not have done what she did - depending on who saw what and the sanity of the nun or brother. So you lived not knowing when the $#*& would fly.

You get over it, grow up and learn not to take any more $*^^ :) I bet he has a lot of ZEAL now!!

What this shows is - you move on complaints since nothing was done about it that post/poster - because I didn’t complain. I am now and not behind the scenes but upfront.

The Religion Moderator has a thankless job, and does the best possible job that can be done, here. The RM deserves the support of all of us.

I know it wasn’t, so I’ll leave ALL THE DETAILS up to my discernment in spite of the thin skinned obviousness of it all.

Lurkers/posters - a learning lesson has been granted to all of us. This is a reminder me of the political scene today when Truth is revealed - stop it at all cost.

Excuse me, Judith Anne

What’s NEED for YOU to post this to me?

I’m quite aware of the quiet complaints he/she must get from the thin-skinned - so their any grief isn’t coming from me.

So why address this to me - YOU are making this VERY PERSONAL.

I understand. I hesitate to say some of the things because of that so I know you aren't bitter. I'm happy w/the education I received. But exchanging war stories is enlightening. Actually, listening to the nose in the board, under the desk and the pencil reprimands - I think I had it better than you.
