The New Commentary on Canon Law says that you must have "male fide" (bad faith) and you must do so with "full knowledge" to be really guilty of heresy. In other words, you have to believe that it is true and reject it anyway.
Isn't that a definition of crazy? To believe something is true AND reject it?
I reject the Catholic only doctrines because I believe them to be false.
THANK you for sharing with us your salvation and freedom that is in Christ! Unlike men, with their rules, regulations, traditions, and confusion, He will never disappoint. Maranatha!!
Don't you have some late-morning-but-not-quite-noon rosary prayer thread to start?
God’s word EVERYTHING INDEED.
Perhaps the real question should be, am I fully Christ’s?
Personal pursuasion vs’ actual reality can be mutually exclusive.
It is true we are not to abandon the “gathering together” “as is the manner of some” but we go where we bear fruit.
A true ‘spiritual church of Peter’, would show all manner of spirtual fruits, love, charity, kindness, and new converts as the Holy Spirit saw fit to convict and transform. There would be timely, active and forceful means to put down sin amongst its leaders as well as amongst its laity. There would be no suppressions of the spirit should the Spirit decide to directly visit a congregation with manifestations of tongues(with translations), miracles, healings, and prophecies (though all these would need to be tested against the orthodoxy of scripture should any false doctrines arise and these manifestations found to be satanic in origin).
A true church of Peter would be longsuffering and able to persevere and even thrive under societal pressure and persecution. A true church of Peter would be an out post of Christ in a darkened world, manifesting his glory and the power of his resurrection and yet a true church of Peter is also the whole of all present and past and future believers. For the church that Peter would call his own, would be the church and Bride of Christ..as would all apostles and prophets proclaim as well!
This body, this true “catholic” body(small c), is a people drawn from all nations, tongues, and circumstances. They may be of Catholic, Orthodox , or protestant pursuasions but all have had an encounter with Jesus Christ apart from how the traditions of their various back-grounds have colored their thinking. There is the word, there is the application and teaching, but then there is the man and God Christ Jesus himself....”behold I stand at the door and knock....!”
So lets refine your question...It is not, “am I still Catholic”, but rather...”Am I really a part of the catholic body of saints, ruled by Christ and infused by the Holy Spirit?” (Or in short “Am I fully Christ’s?”)
Therefore, the Protestant teaching of sola scriptura is not a heresy or a novel doctrine, but in reality it is a reaffirmation of the faith of the early church. It is both biblical and historical, yet the Roman Catholic Church continues to teach that oral tradition is a second source of divine revelation, equally as authoritative as Scripture and that this was the view held by the church Fathers. Such a claim, however, contradicts both Scripture and history. When the Fathers speak of a tradition handed down from the apostles independent of Scripture, they are referring to ecclesiastical customs and practices, never to doctrine. Tradition was always subordinate to Scripture as an authority, and the Word of God itself never teaches that tradition is inspired. The Scriptures give numerous warnings against tradition,9 and the Fathers rejected the teaching of an apostolic oral tradition independent of Scripture as a gnostic heresy. For the church Fathers apostolic tradition or teaching was embodied and preserved in Scripture. The teaching of the Fathers is this: What the apostles initially proclaimed and taught orally, they later committed to writing in the New Testament. Irenaeus succinctly states it in these words:
We have learned from none others the plan of our salvation, than from those through whom the gospel has come down to us, which they did at one time proclaim in public, and, at a later period, by the will of God, handed down to us in the Scriptures, to be the ground and pillar of our faith.
AMEN!
AMEN! He is our all in all.
Yes I did leave the Rc church..A catholic asked me to post that on my home page..so I have my testimony posted
Thanks for this

Sigh, it is scripture AND tradition. Not sola scriptura.
As for Beckwith, I’m a ‘revert’ as well. The problems that divided Catholics and evangelicals originally no longer exist.
Is this really a teaching of your church.
“When the Fathers speak of a tradition handed down from the apostles independent of Scripture, they are referring to ecclesiastical customs and practices, never to doctrine.”
Wow. No.
They are referring to Chalcedon, to Ephesus, to Nicaea, to Constantinople.
They are referring to the Trinity, which is doctrinal.
I’ll make the outrageous claim that no Protestant truly believes in Sola Scriptura. You just like to think you do.
"Essential" is exactly the right word. These are instructions straight from Jesus Christ. And still they "use vain repetitions, as the heathen do."
Really? They why the diverse and contradictory dogmas that multiple traditions derive from the "Scripture only?"
I have asked this question over and over and over. Please forgive me if it has been answered already. (I don't think it has.)
Have you ever prayed a Rosary?
ULTIMATE AUTHORITY IS JESUS(WORD OF GOD)JESUS SPOKE WITH AUTHORITY"
NOT INK ON PAPER ALONE
ORAL TRADITION(Spoken in Authority)
What are the Words of Jesus that are not written in scripture?
2Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is God-BREATHED and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
ALL Scripture is God-Breathed! Scripture makes us thoroughly equipped for every good work"
What are we NOT equipped for if Scripture equips us for EVERY GOOD Work?
WHICH CAME FIRST THE APOSTLES OR NEW TESTAMENT SCRIPTURES?The apostles preached the Gospel and then wrote it down for us.
HOW DOES FAITH COME BY?
ROMAN 10:17 "So FAITH comes from Hearing, and Hearing by the word of Christ."
IT DOES NOT SAY BY READING AND READING THE WORD?
So, its no good if I read it aloud?
I would certainly Love to hear the words of my Saviour.
Do you have any quotes from Jesus that are not listed in scripture?
BUT IF SO BY WHOSE AUTHORITY? YOU, ME and THE MAN ON THE MOON? HOW ABOUT APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION? JESUS BREATHED ON APOSTLES WHO WROTE SCRIPTURE!
Yes, He gave them the great commission. But we do not have Apostles today.
Eph 2:19So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, The foundation has already been built by the apostles. We are no longer building a foundation.
The Gospel has been given to the Apostles, once and for all, with nothing new to be added.
The requirements are. 2 Tim 4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encouragewith great patience and careful instruction. 3For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
“And NO earthly church can lay claim on our salvation”
Yet Christ himself says, I will build MY church and the gates of hell shall not prevail.
