The Westminster Confession of Faith articulates the Biblical perspective...

Well, let's see. How was ANYONE saved before that?

The Westminster Confession of Faith is a Reformed confession of faith, in the Calvinist theological tradition. Although drawn up by the 1646 Westminster Assembly, largely of the Church of England, it became and remains the 'subordinate standard' of doctrine in the Church of Scotland, and has been influential within Presbyterian churches worldwide. In 1643, the English Parliament called upon "learned, godly and judicious Divines", to meet at Westminster Abbey in order to provide advice on issues of worship, doctrine, government and discipline of the Church of England. Their meetings, over a period of five years, produced the confession of faith, as well as a Larger Catechism and a Shorter Catechism. For more than three centuries, various churches around the world have adopted the confession and the catechisms as their standards of doctrine, subordinate to the Bible. The Westminster Confession of Faith was modified and adopted by Congregationalists in England in the form of the Savoy Declaration (1658). Likewise, the Baptists of England modified the Savoy Declaration to produce the Second London Baptist Confession (1689). English Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and Baptists would together (with others) come to be known as Nonconformists, because they did not conform to the Act of Uniformity (1662) establishing the Church of England as the only legally-approved church, though they were in many ways united by their common confessions, built on the Westminster Confession.

Did St. Paul write it?

"Who were the audience of the the Sermon on the Mount? They were believers."

That was only one of the many lies told by Calvin to rationalize his perversion of the Revealed Word of God. Jesus came to bring His message to the outcast and disenfranchised; the very "multitude" and "crowds" he addressed in the Beatitudes.

Why do you imagine the "outcast and disenfranchised" were not believers? That's awfully elist of you.

iknow..it's all so silly and boring. why bother?

Christ is not boring. Worship is not boring. Prayer is not boring. Faith is not boring. Spiritual and corporal works of mercy are not boring.

Anti-Catholic bigots are boring. Protestants are boring. Your post is silly.

"The only joke is your spelling of "Charleston."

My typo wasn't half as funny as your intentional misspelling of "Charlton". Maybe you can't catch a break because God doesn't want you to.

Every sentence of the WCF was founded on the Bible. It's a helpful guide to the Scriptures and man's place in God's world.

Unlike the RCC catechism which is based on the doctrines of men, and various fables and lies.

Anyone who has ever read Calvin's Sermons on the Beatitudes knows just how false your posting really is.

Anyone making that claim would have to have read those sermons. Give us an example of a sermon Calvin wrote on the beatitudes which you've read.

I gather simple

English explanations to the contrary are beyond comprehension.

Sad.

Dr E, to you ever recall the rabid clique folks being pleased with the results of their hypocritical, harsh, personal harrassments of me? IIRC, such usually spur me on to finishing some of the long pending tasks of illustrating the absurd idolatries, blasphemies etc. of the Vatican System more quickly, more thoroughly, more vividly.

What do I know. Maybe there’s an unconscious part of them that, even immersed in their willful blindness, idolatries, blasphemies, bondages . . . really does want the freedom that THE TRUTHS OF JESUS AND OF SCRIPTURE BRING. Maybe they are unconsciously trying to trigger my working harder at illustrating the horrors of their DOUBLE STANDARDS etc.

Fascinating.

Trouble is, some of the pending tasks involve a LOT of reading, sifting, sorting etc. I don’t know that I can comply with their demands that I hurry it up.

Like the Protestants the Catholic Church burned to death, or tortured to death in the Inquisition?

People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

The Roman Catholic Church history is an abomination and a stain on the history of Christianity. The corruption that existed in the papacy for so long, the sale of indulgences, the suppression of knowledge because it contradicted church teaching (Galileo for example), just to mention a few....

The only reason it has changed is because of the Reformation. As people actually began to read and understand the clear teachings of Scripture, they saw what a farce the RCC had put up and were leaving it.

It forced the RCC to make changes in itself that would NEVER have happened otherwise.

And to try to claim that an organization with that kind of history is what Christ established on earth to represent Himself is to spit in Christ’s face. Jesus would NEVER condone the behavior that ran rampant in the Roman Catholic Church throughout most of its history. He would never condone that kind of sin and deception.

ABSOLUTELY INDEED.

"Give us an example of a sermon Calvin wrote on the beatitudes which you've read."

An excerpt from Calvin's Sermon on Meekness particularly reminds me of you:

"Everyone around us follows his own interests and looks to his own advantage; everyone wants to lord it over others. Hence our pride, our surliness, our venom the instant we are provoked. Harshness and even cruelty abound. We are vindictive and cause no end of trouble: it is as if lightning should fall from heaven every time someone is offended. So if in the course of life we endure many difficulties, we do not have to look far for the explanation: the pain men suffer comes from their fellow men. It is, of course, true that people all have their excuses."

BTW, DEAR SISTER,

As a writer . . . isn’t it often surprising to you . . . how boringly pedantic, redundant, and even flatteringly copying the rabid clique folks are

in their brazen demonstrations of an utter absence of creativity in their responses?

All these years, I’ve thought eventually one of them would rise up with some fun creativity.

NOPE.

Same old dreary irrational nonsense.

There is occasionally some slight humor to be found in their clumsy efforts to copy me and throw it back in my face. Those are sometimes good for some light chuckes. But then, that’s not real creativity, is it.

Sigh.

Can you name a “doctrine of demons” in the “RCC Catechism”?

I gather simple English explanations to the contrary are beyond comprehension.

Don't sell your self short. The explanations were perfectly comprehensible, and were indeed comprehended. It's just that they don't negate the rubberizing that occurred.

Sad.

You have reason to be sad, now that your own rubberizing is out there for the all to see. The hypocrisy is now readily apparent whenever your claims of rubberizing are made.

I think you have that backwards; there is truth outside of Scripture, according to Catholic tradition.

My affirmation was about that tradition being Protestant.
