No wonder that you do not understand the Gospel. God does not merely declare, He IS. Foolishness, thy name is Calvin.

HUH?? You seemed to be a bit confused in reading the scriptures

Isa46: 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

You will find the more you read it the easier it is to understand

Ping to 3074.

Because we're not all Latin Rite. There are Maronites, Syro-Malabar, Chaldean Catholics etc.

OK, but wouldn't it be true that around here if someone said "RC" (without malice) it actually would correctly refer to 95% of the Catholic posters hereon?

Is there any Christ to your Christianity, or are you like the other Calvinists, relying totally on misinterpreted snippets of Paul and rejecting the Gospels altogether?

"How can a church led by the Holy Spirit be deceived.."

I didn't use the word deceived, I said "victimized". Do you think the false assumption of the office of the pope was done with slight of hand or card tricks? How many saints were brutalized and executed in His name and how more vulnerable His Church?

If Paul's words are equal to God's, then Paul is equal to God and that is blasphemy.

ohh wow Mark.. The words of Paul in the scripture ARE the inspired words of God as is all of scripture.. The letters of Paul were considered scripture by the early church and intended to teach the new church the doctrine that Christ taught while he was on earth.. all scripture is inspired by God, it is all written prophetically ...

Yet it does beg the question that there were two at the same time and which one was legitimate. Not to mention the dozen or so popes who were just plain evil, as history bears out. The only conclusion is that the HS has nothing to do with Popes and succession

Perhaps the only conclusion YOU can draw.

LOL... no because that is not what that letter addressing there are 65 other books for you to read

Does not the Catholic church teach that baptism (of one sort or another) is necessary for salvation because of original sin..(total depravity)

Is there any Christ in your Christianity? Or has the store of Paulian snippets failed you and you are reaching for the OT? When I wish to read fiction, the Westminster Confession of Faith sometimes does admirably. It pretends to be Christian without relying on Christ at all.

There are 72 other books.

Are you conflating total depravity with original sin?

God does not need to plan or God would be moved ...

I am sorry but that is the most theologically dumb thing I have ever read on a message board.. Do you really think God did not plan the creation or the cross? He ordained nothing he just set the world in motion and lets it spin.. OHHHH PLEASE read your bible honey you so need it...

. . . THOUGH . . . Paul did speak of the two warring . .

It's part of our sin nature to be at enmity with the will of God. That is why His "rod and staff" they guides us. Like sheep we simply follow. When we start to go astray, God prods us back. We don't do the things God wants us to do easily but He makes us do it for His kingdom and our benefit.

Wow indeed. Are you claiming that Paul's words are the equal of those of Jesus?

Let us look at the OT. The Jews believe that God dictated the Torah. That means that the rest was written by man, however inspired. But inspired does not mean dictated. And the word of God is greater than that of any man, however inspired. Would you say that 1 Chronicles 25 says anything that is as important as that of, say Matthew 5?

Where does Scripture say that all Scripture is equal in importance? Nowhere. Where does Scripture say that man is not as important as God? Everywhere.

it applies to dead Catholic saints as well

Yes, it does. Their bodies are in graves, or sometimes in reliquaries, or missing altogether. No different than anyone else, of any faith.

scripture that says your saints in heaven hear you

We know they are "witnesses" and we know Moses, while dead, conversed with Jesus (Matthew 17:3).

”What if Christ was never crucified?””
Christ is forever the second person in the Holy Trinity

That is not an answer.. The Son indeed was always a member of the trinity.. but what if Judas had changed his mind and surprised God?

BTW,Dear Sister,do you have a life outside of FR? I counted and you have almost 50 posts so far just today.

How nice of you to keep count for me.. I was up at 6 and at the gym.. yep I have a life.. and I have time to study scripture too do you?

A golden calf in one's life can take many forms....even addiction to message boards

Thank you for your concern over my spiritual life..But I have worked out, done house work, cooked 2 meals, studied a book of the OT and not bent my knee to a computer or a piece of unleaved bread that is just that ..bread today so I think I am fine :)

Are you going to line up with those who think that men are equal to God? Now, that is Mormonism. Thank you for pointing out that Calvinist beliefs overlap those of the LDS. Since Paul is now equal to God in Calvinist eyes, does that mean that Paul will start his own Creation somewhere else in the Calvinist universes?
