I can't help wondering if there wasn't some arm-twisting here -- I heard yesterday on the radio that Cdl. O'Malley would be in Denver today.
I'm wondering what arm-twisting went on behind the scenes; I heard on the radio yesterday (reportedly info from the Chancery) that O'Malley would be in Denver today, officiating at a marriage. So it would seem to have been a last-minute decision.
I heard years ago (from my mother, actually, when I was about 10) that Rose and Joe had a deal, that she'd bring up the girls her way and Joe would bring up the boys.
LOL! "Usually"? How could you possibly know that?
FWIW, O’Malley seemed very cold and detached during the Mass. It was rather obvious that he was there reluctantly. That’s my impression.
O’Malley didn’t even touch and pat the casket like Obama did, nor did he make any kind of friendly gesture towards the casket. No doubt O’Malley knew everyone was watching.
EWTN did mention during The World Over last night, that when Obama went to visit the Pope he had a 10 page letter from Kennedy that he delivered.
You’re right about that!
I would not be suprised if there was some arm twisting going on in private.
Before Social Security, nursing homes, etc... when close relatives would observed and communicated their loved ones last thoughts, they would often “leak out” (Admit, poor choice of words). Also, a person that truly confesses would no doubt like to make right what they did wrong, especially law makers.
It would beholden to a Priest to entice a public leader to publicly renounce supporting that which you are repenting from. It would be a logical contrition of a leader who values his or her soul over the rebellious ideology they promoted.
I do not believe O’Malley was all that crazy about being at TK’s funeral.
That is why it would have been better that it was not broadcasted on tv. The one thing I do remember when Jackie O. had passed was that at least there was just the audio, not direct video being shown of her funeral. She was very mindful of her privacy to the very end.
WOW!
Do you remember when the Pope came in?
Wasn’t Kennedy the only high profile Catholic who didn’t receive communion?
>>you might be surprised and learn something.<<
Rollo, you would do yourself well to hold your smarminess in check when you post.
No doubt, if indeed TK was refused the funeral Mass at the cathedral (as some reported) there would be some kind of hard feeling and O'Malley felt awkward.
Actually, it is odd that O'Malley showed up but the funeral was not held at the cathedral, which I think TK would have wanted it.
Isn't that the height of arrogance to presume the Pope is going to spend his precious time reading a 10 page tome from Edward M. Kennedy?
CBS is showing now the burial part at Arlington, with parts of the 10 page letter that Sen.Ted sent to the Pope via President Obama when he visted the Pope in Rome last month.
I've never witnessed such politics over a coffin...It's disgusting.

Right now, at the TK’s grave site, the officiating clergy (I don’t even know it is McCarrick, can’t see his face) is quoting part of TK’s letter to the Holy Father. Trust me, from what I heard, it’s all about TK himself, all the good he did etc etc. How arrogant indeed.
Who would make a copy of a personal letter to the Holy Father in praise of himself to be made public?
