The exact words are used in Scripture to describe Israel and the Church. If the Word of God isn't sufficiently biblical for the antiquated false preterist Reformed camp, they might simply return to God so He may return to them.
The entire format of the book of Deuteronomy is of an ancient marriage contract signed between God and Israel. The marriage is reiterated in Ezekiel 16.
Jeremiah 3 decribes her great adultery breaking the marriage contract in Jeremiah 31 and also described in Ezekiel 16 and in Hosea 2. The separation of the marriage occurred Isaiah 50 and a bill of divorcement in Jereiah 3. Hosea is the Bill of divorcement of the Northern Kingdom, while Jeremiah is the Bill of Divorcement of the Southern Kingdom. A new marriage contract is now available for Israel when she returns to God and it will be an everlasting contract.
Equating Israel with the Church denies the separation and punishment of the adulterous wife, if the Church is identified as the wife of Jehovah.
This is also another reason why preterism was a dead heresy up until several decades ago, while premillenialism was well assumed even in the first century after Christ.
Rather than gossip about Fruchtenbaum, I’ve found reading his work to better manifest his positions.
A new marriage contract is now available for Israel when she returns to God and it will be an everlasting contract.
Actually, it is not. God is married to the Church.
So, either a) you are a Marcionite, or b) you believe in spiritual polygamy on Gods part, or c) Gods divorced OT Israel and then married the NT church.
Option a) offers no hope.
Option b) has obvious problems vis-à-vis the creation ordinance.
If you believe option c) then God cannot remarry Israel for that would violate His own law (Deut. 24:4). She is forever cut off in favor of the new wife, the Church. According to futurism, God would have to divorce the Church and return to the first wife, Israel.
In any event this futurist idea cannot be sustained by all we read in the Bible. Only by adopting a stunted view of futurism can one make such unsupportable assertions.
The biblical view, that God divorced Old Israel in favor of New Israel, is the only position that can be maintained in light of all we read in the Bible. God will not violate His law by casting off the new bride and returning to the old, and He will not have two wives at the same time (i.e., the Church never stops being the bride-wife of Christ-Jehovah). God can only be one flesh with one wife (Matt. 19:5).
ha ha You're funny. Did you think that one up all by yourself?
See people? What a well rounded public school education can teach you?! You too can be as witty as Scythian if only you'll attend the same inner-city schools he did. ;-)
Dallas grad. Teaches at Chafer Theological Seminary. His stuff sounds mostly like standard issue dispensationalism with a heavy Jewish accent. The wife of God/bride of Christ dichotomy is classic dispensationalism (See Ryrie, Chafer, etc). Fruchtenbaum is evidence that much of messianism is not so much Jewish in origin as non-creedal, fundamentalist Christianity.
Is there anything that distinguishes him from other standard issue dispensationalists?
I heard the YouTube video, to be honest, I don’t know what to make of it, it is pretty remarkable, I was just feeling a little giddy, but I am a product of the public schools, but back when they were half way decent ...
The real anti-Christ would not need a teleprompter.
The real anti-Christ would not throw like a girl.
The real anti-Christ would not have to sleep with a Wookie.
I dont think Obama is qualified to be the anti-Christ.
LMAO!!!
Jesus seemed to feel somewhat sorry for Judas when he said "it had been good for that man if he had not been born." Seeing Mr. O. heading into the direction of aC I kind of feel sorry for him also. If it be the case, it had been good for him if he had not been born. Only The LORD knows who the aC actually is but it would not shock me at all if it does turn out to be Ob.
The times certainly suggest whoever it he is must show up soon.
