MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AFP) Hurricane Jimena surged to a Catergory Two storm Saturday as it churned northward off Mexico’s central Pacific coast, after dumping heavy rains on the resort city of Acapulco, US forecasters said.
“Jimena is a category two hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale,” said the National Hurricane Center in Miami, adding that the tempest’s maximum sustained winds of 105 miles per hour (165 kilometers per hour) are expected to strengthen further.
“Jimena could become a major hurricane by Sunday,” the center warned.
Earlier Mexican authorities assured that Jimena — currently moving west-northwest at nearly 12 mph (19 kph) — was not expected to make landfall.
At 2100 GMT Jimena’s eye was churning 270 miles (435 km) south of the major Pacific port city of Manzanillo, central Mexico, and about 655 miles (1055 km) southeast of the southern tip of Baja California.
Jimena has already caused “intense heavy rain with flooding in the lowlands and landslides in mountains” in the states of Guerrero, Michoacan, Colima and Jalisco on the Pacific coast, a Mexican weather official said earlier Saturday.
“In the next 36 to 48 hours, Jimena may gather strength... but will stay away from the coast, no landfall,” the official told AFP.

A category two storm on the Saffir-Simpson one-to-five scale means it threatens to cause widespread damage, but does not carry the same potential to destroy infrastructure as a category three storm.
JIMENA
Hurricane Jimena has strengthened into a category 4 hurricane. As of 8am PDT Sunday Jimena was located about 515 miles south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with top winds of 135 mph. It is moving off to the northwest at 9 mph.
The northwest motion should continue through Sunday with a turn toward the north expected Monday.
The forecast calls for Jimena to strengthen to 145 mph winds by Monday. Jimena should maintain those 145 mph into Tuesday as it makes a run at Baja California.
High waves being generated by Jimena could reach the Mexican coastline this afternoon from 100 miles south of Manzanillo to Puerto Vallarta. Dangerous rip currents will also be generated by the high surf in the same area. Surfers and swimmers should stay out of the water.
Jimena could approach Baja California near Cabo San Lucas Tuesday afternoon or night as a major hurricane. The last major hurricane to directly hit Baja California was Hurricane Kiko on August 27, 1989.
KEVIN
Tropical Storm Kevin strengthened a bit overnight and had top winds of 50 mph as of 8am PDT Sunday. Kevin was located about 950 miles to the southwest of Cabo San Lucas and is moving toward the north-northeast at 7 mph. Kevin is not a threat to land.

HURRICANES AND WEATHER
While in prayer over the last three weeks I have kept getting that the west coast of America was going to begin to see extreme weather changes including hurricanes , then this morning I received this word in prayer for your discernment and intercession . . .
Hurricanes and weather not seen before now , How long shall you hang onto your sacred cow , The thing that blinds you this very day , Shall soon cause you immense dismay , A shaking is coming behold ! I reveal it even now , So what shall be your answer? Me or your sacred cow ?! For to look to the hills then shall be too late ! Now ! Is the time for a relationship with Me \0/ Come ! and participate .
Jude 1:2-4
2May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.
3Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.
4For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Prayer and deep intercession is important now for Americans for what is ahead ,God hears the prayers of the repentive hearts !
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord (Matthew 23:34-39).
Dt 18:20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death."
21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
In light of these verses, I guess the first question is to ask is has this prophet ever been wrong before?

MIAMI Hurricane Rick quickly strengthened into an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 storm early Saturday off Mexico’s Pacific coast with winds near 135 mph (185 kph), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
Rick was centered at 6:15 a.m. EDT (1015 GMT) Saturday about 255 miles (410 kilometers) southwest of Acapulco, Mexico, and was moving west-northwest near 12 mph (19 kph) as of 6:15 a.m. EDT (1015 GMT) Saturday, the Miami-based center said.
“It’s a bad storm. It’s a strong Category 4 hurricane at this time,” meteorologist Jessica Schauer told The Associated Press, adding it could become a Category 5 hurricane later in the day.
She said the storm was now “extremely dangerous” after warm waters fueled its rapid jump from a Category 1 hurricane to a strong Category 4 hurricane in only about 36 hours.
Schauer said Rick was moving parallel to southwestern Mexico’s coast and more strengthening was expected in the next 36 hours. “Right now it’s over very warm water and the current forecast track keeps it over warm water for quite a while,” she said.
Acapulco’s Civil Protection Department had earlier issued a warning that expected rains from outer bands of the storm could trigger landslides and flooding in the resort city.
Schauer said residents of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula should be closely monitoring the storm because it could make its way to the region as early as Thursday. She added that forecast models show the storm will likely lose strength later in the week as it reached cooler waters.
just heard that the remnants of typhoon Melor are going to hit Northern California on Tuesday. remnants of Typhoon Melor will hit #santacruz ...
AMEN!
Hmmmmmm
Much of the Intermountain West is already uninhabitable, so it will be even moreso? Sounds like a challenge for those driven out of their homes in the East by despot Missouri governors. Humm, sounds like a movie I’ve already seen.
