I want you all to know, the spiritual battle has been joined at a new level now. It grieves my heart to the breaking point again, but Peter has now been charged with First Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action.
I am in shock. After talking at length with the homicide detective, I am aware of some of the facts and evidence upon which the indictment is based, but I am also acutely aware of the presence of extreme and mitigating and very perplexing circumstances, and so I still do not rule out the very real possibility that Peter was acting in self-defense in some form.
I do not know what to say. Satan has attacked us so viciously. I beg you, please pray for us again.
I beg you, if you can find it in your heart, please pray for Peter. May God have mercy on us.

If Peter’s defense attorney doesn’t take the bull by the horns, get him another one. If he has appointed counsel, make sure the person’s actually working the case and not just looking to plead him out. If there’s a high-profile criminal defense firm in his city, contact them and ask if they’ll handle it pro bono (if there’s no money to pay them, as is often the case - nobody plans to need a lawyer).
I’m praying for your family and the attorney. Pray he has the right one. As a current judge and prosecutor and a former criminal defense counsel, this is my strongest advice to you.

Life can be so hard at times. Jesus wants to bring us through these strange, puzzling, excruciating times of the valley of the shadow and out into a large, bright place of green grass and trees and of cool, flowing streams.
It is my guess that Peter must have been terrified out of his mind to have taken this action. I think a lot of these prosecutors are ambitious for higher office in many cases and not very concerned about judgement and mercy. I pray for God’s mercy in this situation and for the help that you all need for release from this agony. Remember that trouble is only for a night, but that joy springs forth in the morning. Try to cast ALL your cares upon the Lord, for He careth for you.
